Pumpkin Crisp Plus Lower Fat Variations

This is my husband's favorite dessert. We got the recipe from his uncle Larry. I have made it for may family and it has been requested that I bring it to Thanksgiving again this year. I also made it for a BBQ this summer, and a friend who came to the BBQ asked for the recipe so she could make it for Thanksgiving. It's great anytime, but its a must in my house for Thanksgiving. -- posted by Jennifer Bennifer

Fresh Cranberry Pecan Salad

This salad is my daughter and mother's favorite Thanksgiving recipe. I used to make it every year for the teachers at my children's school--they RAVED over it. After Thanksgiving, I like to have it as a snack over plain yogurt.
Perfect for Fall. Cookies to make between Halloween and Thanksgiving. I use my Maple Leaf cookie cutters, and even make a few with my Oak Leaf cutter.
Moist Pumpkin Spice Bread

This may be the most delicious pumpkin bread recipe I've ever baked. I came up with this for my brother's 18th birthday and it has been devoured in just two days. I believe the applesauce in the recipe is what makes it so ooey-gooey moist. It's also low in fat as the applesauce replaces the oil that would normally be used. The recipe makes two loaves, one of which can be frozen or given to a friend. -- posted by EntirelyEmily

Thanksgiving Pumpkin Blondies

From The Best 50 collection of cookbooks. This is straight out of the Brownies and Blondies edition. A little of this goes a LONG way! Not really a blondie by my standards, but it passes off as an interesting bar-type dessert. PLEASE NOTE: Because most people are not really used to tasting molasses, it may take a few bites to fall in love with this recipe. I did not like it at all when I first tried it. But, after giving it a second bite, I found I can't get enough of it. This seemed to happen with EVERYONE who tried it. So, please, before giving an unhappy review, try it again. If you find that the molasses is just too much to handle, try cutting the topping ingredients in half. It really does make a lot of topping as it is. I hope you enjoy this! -- posted by the_cookie_lady

Can be refrigerated for up to 5 days. -- posted by GoldsmithLissa

Blondies were my favorite cookie bar as a child. My grandmother made them the best!
This is a recipe that I have had for ages and is a special treat during the holiday season. This cake is very rich.
Mom's Hot Buttered Rum

A delicious, simple drink for a cold night that will warm you right up from your nose to your toes! Prep time is just estimated time to make the mix. The number of servings will vary, depending on just how heaping your tablespoons are, but you should get close to 100 servings from a full batch, which is approximately 12 cups of mix. I've estimated from 100-150 servings, based on using anywhere from 1 1/4 Tbsp per serving to nearly 2 Tbsp per serving. The recipe can be easily scaled back to make less--it's pretty forgiving. Please note that the nutritional information is not entirely accurate, as it divides the single serving of rum into 100 servings, which means it really has a few more calories than shown. -- posted by Halcyon Eve

My mom got this recipe from a card at the grocery store about 15 years ago and it's become a family favorite! I've tweaked it a little to make it my own. These are great fresh but are out of this world if allowed to "age" for a week to ten days in a container at room temperature.
A Craig Claiborne classic from The New York Times. One just can't do any better than this one. Cook time is chill time for the alcohol to remove any raw egg taste.
1200 Watt Microwave Peanut Brittle

Bravo to Love2Eat’s Peanut Brittle in a Jiffy #58383 - it got me started, but with the adjustments for my higher powered microwave and some flavor changes I thought I should write my own recipe. I can not say how much Love2Eat’s note about having everything measured out and ready to go was a life saver. I use an 8 cup pyrex measuring bowl with a handle as this mixture bubbles up and gets very hot (bowl gets very hot too) - it is MOLTEN SUGAR- if your work area is not right next to your sink - have a bowl of ice water in case of burns. THIS RECIPE IS FOR A 1200 WATT MICROWAVE. Oh yeah, I sorta faked it on how many this will serve - it is habit forming. -- posted by Sandy in Dayton

Chunky Nut and Dried Fruitcake

No candied fruits! I made a similar fruitcake last year and was anxious to make it again as it was delicious. It has just enough batter to hold all the luscious ingredients together. I searched everywhere and finally found this which is really close. I use a silicone tube pan. I've fallen in love with the silicone bakeware. Recipes never stick! This came originally from the Better Homes and Gardens Annual Recipes, 2008.
I substituted butter for the shortening to avoid trans fats, and walnuts for Brazil nuts for taste. Last year I bought the bags of dried blueberries and cherries separately...a little pricey. But this year I found a mixed bag of dried berries at Costco. It had just enough and a little more of each. -- posted by Gigi #23

Pumpkin Biscotti With White Chocolate

I included them on my Christmas cookie platters this year, and everyone made a point of telling me how good they were. I found the recipe on the web. The raisins were my idea. Dried cranberries would be as good, if not much, much better. Or leave them out completely. Both light and dark brown sugar work beautifully, although I think I like the dark brown sugar version just a tiny tad more. I used good-quality white chocolate chips mixed with about 1/2 teaspoon of shortening for the drizzle. And if you can, use freshly ground nutmeg. Also, you can use up to 3/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries. Any way you try it, I think you'll love them. (Time does not include chilling time.) -- posted by Charmed

Pizza Frita

This has long been a family tradition as an appetizer during the holidays. It's not the most healthy of foods, but is healthier than many other fried dough recipes out there since it's quick fried, and soaks up a lot less of the oil it's fried in. This is a recipe that's always a pleaser, and quite tasty when dipped in some sugar, or even by itself. The anchovy paste variant is my favorite. It doesn't taste like anchovy at all - instead it has a quite pleasant flavor, and almost omits the need for sugar dipping the finished product. -- posted by Obsidian468

Best Lima Bean Soup - Especially Wintertime!

This recipe will give you a rib-sticking flavorful soup that everyone can tweak as much as desired to satisfy his or her own tastebuds.
