Halloween or Fall Porcupine Bread

Because it is strangely ugly in appearance, children and adults think it is Halloween, but can also be fall. A porcupine is an odd creature that can easily be thought of as Halloween in it's looks I think.
Lazy Goblin Popcorn Balls

This recipe is much easier & quicker to make than the traditional version. The marshmallows not only give the popcorn balls a different flavour but make them chewy, too.
Three Not so Blind Mice

The cutest, delicate mice you ever saw! Everyone remarks about them. I give trays of assorted cookies each year and place them on top. They just make it! It actually is a help when the kids can put on the almonds. I don't remember where I got the recipe, so I gave the best measurements I can recall. It sounds like it could be a Hershey's recipe!? For adults you can strain the cherries, then add rum or almond liquor and soak overnight drain and dry proceed with recipe. Save the rum for drinks. -- posted by ~Rita~

EASY Jack 'O Lantern Cake

We have 3 family member birthdays in a row in mid October and I make this cake for one big celebration. I'm not sure where I first saw this, I know it wasn't in a cookbook. I'd like to think I'm creative, but I probably saw it in a magazine over 30yrs ago. It makes a very large amount of cake, so it's great for any fall party or Thanksgiving dessert. Use your imagination and creativity to make the face and stem and leaves. I have also used black tinted icing for the eyes, nose and mouth. I only have 1 bundt pan, so the time consuming part is using it to make 2 cakes. It's really a good looking center piece on a holiday or theme table. -- posted by peppermintkitty

Calaveras De Dulces ( Mexican Sugar Skulls)

Along with Halloween, I am fascinated with the Mexican holiday Day Of The Dead, which occurs on November 1 and 2 (the 1st to honor children who have passed, and the 2nd to honor adults). These colorful little sugar skulls are created to place at the traditional altars to honor and welcome the spirits of deceased loved ones. The altars include brightly colored paper tissue paper garlands called papel picado in colors of purple, white, and pink; purple candles; a towel, soap, and washcloth so the spirits may "clean up" a little after their journey; treats that the departed enjoyed while on earth; and among many more things, these little skulls are used in various representations on the altar. And while these are technically edible, I generally don't eat them; in fact, I like to apply a bit of clear coat on them to preserve them. -- posted by EdsGirlAngie

These are great for halloween parties! We gave them out one year to neighbors and it was so much fun to see their reaction.
Halloween Pumpkin Cookies

I got this recipe from my mom. I made these last year for Halloween and used both white and brown Splenda in place of the sugar and they were a big hit without the icing sugar dusting. My mom and I just made two batches last night with homemade pumpkin puree and regular sugars. You can cut down the sugars by about 1/4 cup each and they still taste great. -- posted by Seamor

Monster Cookies

I see there are a lot of Monster cookie recipes on here, but there are slight variations of it. I prefer my mom's recipe. Yes I know it calls for a lot of ingredients and in large quantities, but what I like to do is make a large batch before Halloween--hence "Monster" cookies. I put the dough into containers and freeze. This helps me get a jump start on my holidays. I just give out the dough as gifts through the holidays. My family loves it because everyone loves them, but no one wants to take the time to make them. -- posted by Erin Harris

Traditional Parkin

My mum always makes this around my birthday (5th Nov). This is best made a day or two in advance to allow the flavours to develop and the parkin to become moist and sticky. It will keep for up to a week in an airtight container.
Double the batch and make 2 cakes. Eat 1 and freeze the other for later - simply remove from the tin and wrap well in foil. Will freeze for up to 3 months. -- posted by English_Rose

Black & Orange Halloween Truffles - Favors / Treats!

This recipe is absolutely fantastic! It comes originally from the Martha Stewart site but I tweaked it a touch. These truffles are so striking, they make wonderful favors if you put them in a clear cello bag with ribbon or in a favor box. You can also incorporate them into your table decor........ Time to make doesn't include chilling or setting time of around 2 hours. -- posted by Um Safia

Twit Twooo, Hooting Halloween Owls - Halloween Cupcakes/Muffins

These are GREAT fun! Bake some chocolate fairy cakes, muffins or cupcakes, decorate them and then turn them into Hooting Halloween Owls! I made these last year for a children's Halloween party, and they all loved them. The recipe is based on our British fairy cake or angel cake recipe, where the top of the baked cake or muffin is cut off to create the "wings". I have stated some sweets (candy) that are British - please use your own local sweets to decorate the owls. This is a wonderful recipe idea that I have changed and adapted from Tana Ramsay, the wife of the famous Gordon Ramsay.....she has some great family recipes, of which this is one. (Preparation time includes the time to decorate and ice them after they have been baked.) My Recipe #328085 would also be great Halloween companions for these hooting owls! -- posted by French Tart

Halloween Fun - Witch's Broom Favors

These favors are so cute! You can use them as table decorations, give to trick or treaters, give to your guests as favours. It is a nice idea to make little tags with your guests names on & hang over the top of each broom stick for fun place settings. My orange & black truffles would look really good in these, as would any other halloween candy mixes. -- posted by Um Safia

Spooky Spider Cupcakes/Muffins for a Howling Halloween!

I JUST love these little spider cakes, when I make them, their faces make me laugh - well, I am easily pleased! Furthermore, they are VERY tasty - they have a much better flavour than NORMAL spiders I find, their legs are a little too chewy! The cake mixture is a double chocolate cake mixture - with cocoa and chocolate pieces, topped off with a chocolate butter cream. The decorations are made using Liquorice Allsorts and liquorice strings/laces or Catherine wheels as we call them in Great Britain. They are easy to make and can be frozen before you decorate them. I made these for TOTM Cooking School September 2008 - I hope you find the step-by-step photos handy when you come to bake and decorate them. An idea we had for an adult Halloween party - turn the spiders upside down so they have their legs in the air, and scatter wine corks amongst them on a plate........only joking! :-) If you fancy some wise companions for these spooky spiders, try these: Recipe #326716. -- posted by French Tart

Jamie's Spiced Sugar and Christmas Popcorn Recipe

This Jamie Oliver sugar mix really does smell like Christmas (although you are not limited to eating it only at Christmas!). The sugar recipe makes loads, (but is easily halved) and it keeps in an airtight container for absolutely ages and can be used on a variety of things (to sweeten whipped cream, on porridge, on fruit--you name it...), so it's well worth doing a full batch.

You could probably make things for other holidays such as little eggs for an Easter cone,or candy corn for a Thanksgiving cone! They're really easy and would take no time at all.
