Biscuit Mini-Batch for Toaster Oven

A nice, little batch of fresh, hot, biscuits to make in the toaster oven when you just need a little something. Drop biscuits are no more trouble to make than opening a can of dough and you don't have to keep track of expiration dates. Of course you could roll them and cut them if you wanted, but I've always liked the crunchy bits you get from the texture of the drop biscuits. -- posted by 3KillerBs

Stuffed Biscuits

Ok, I found this recipe on recipezaar and totally lost it. I forgot to save it in my cookbook and the page that I printed, got lost too. I couldn't find it again on recipezaar, since I didn't know the name of it so I had to re-create this recipe, since my family kept asking for it. I guess my version of it might be completely different than original, but it still a very yummy dish!
I also thought it would be good to make in the mini muffin pan as an appetizer, I'll try that next! -- posted by AngelaSept

Pan Dulce - Mexican Sweet Bread

You cannot have one of these unless you have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate and a good friend sitting at your kitchen table with you talking about the lastest "chisme". I remember going to the local panaderia with my Nana and picking up some pan dulce if she knew she had company coming. I would sit at her plastic covered table cloth and not have to worry about any drips as I dipped my bread into the cafe con leche and listened as the conversations flowed around me. I wish I had had this recipe back then and I would have made it for her. This recipe is different from others in that you can make it the night before and then stick it in the oven in the morning and serve it to those you love! -- posted by cookiedog

Perfect Whole Wheat Biscuits

These biscuits are sooo delicious! A mix of white and wheat flour makes them light yet healthy. It is preferable to use a soft winter wheat flour for your all purpose flour. My local health food store purchases super fresh ground flour from a nearby flour mill so it makes for spectacular baking! I usually make a double batch and cut them to be the super sized biscuits so that we can make breakfast biscuits with eggs, bacon and cheese! I don't change the recipe at all, ever. Tip: my grandmother always said that to make good, flaky biscuits handle the dough as little as possible, barely kneading it at all. -- posted by sassafrasnanc

Dallaspulla - Awesome Finnish Pastry

I discovered these pastries as an exchange student in Finland and they are my absolute favorite in the whole wide world (my boyfriend's too). I have been searching high and low for a recipe and finally I found this one on Axis of Aevil so I thought I'd share. Can't wait to try it!!

There's the traditional Finnish filling as well as an American alternative since quark is pretty hard to find in the States.

Food Processor Biscuits to Die For

This is from Shelda Green and the San Jose Mercury News Sept. 13, 2006. Green shared a few of her family secrets. First, she pats out the dough on a floured opened brown grocery bag to save on clean up time. Secondly, her family rolls the biscuits thinner, then stack the two circles before baking so that it is easier to add a pat of butter to the finished biscuits. This recipe only uses 3 ingredients which I usually have on hand. -- posted by cookiedog

Dad's Potato Rolls

My dad makes this every week for Sunday dinner and we never get tired of it! He usually doubles or triples the recipe so we can eat them through the week too. This recipe also makes amazing scones, just cut into squares, let them rise and then fry in heated oil. They're good!
If you don't have instant potatoes you can use 3/4 cup of mashed potatoes and just forget about the other 1/2 cup of water. Time does not include rising time and serving size really depends on how big you make yours. -- posted by LutieLu

Anna's Brilliant Biscuits

These biscuits are so good! My family loved them- said that they tasted like the biscuits from KFC! They come out to be really light and fluffy. The dough is also very nice, and I even like to use it in one of my desserts. If you need to save time, you don't have to sift the flour- but the sifted flour does make them a little bit more light. This recipe will make more or less biscuits depending on the size you make them. Enjoy! -- posted by edlos1

Spanish Crusty Bread Rolls

As a lover of all things Spanish, I begged my friend Pia for her recipe of the most delicious bread.
As bread is served with every meal in Spain, I returned home desperate for more.
Anyway, Pia gave me her recipe & it's a very good likeness (I think her olive oil is far superior than the ones available here in the UK).
The bread is great for any meal, my favourite being breakfast, served with butter, jam, orange marmalade or with ham & or cheese.

She also states that it's essential to pour yourself a glass of red rioja & put on a cd of the Gypsy Kings.....to get you in the mood! -- posted by Wakey lass Lisa

Danish pastry is a sweet pastry which has become a speciality of Denmark and is popular throughout much of the world. The danish as consumed in Denmark can be topped with chocolate, sugar or icing, and may be stuffed with either jam, marzipan or custard. Shapes are numerous, including circles with filling in the middle (known as "spandauers"), figure-eights, spirals, and the pretzel-like kringles. Simply let it raise a couple of times, punch it down in between and bake it off in a 400 degree oven for approximately 30-40 minutes (I don't remember exactly how long).
If your biscuit-challenged then try this I think you will be pleased with the results! for garlic-lovers add in 1/2 to 1 teaspoon garlic powder you can also add in dried herbs --- make sure that the buttermilk is very cold when adding in the melted butter this will form small clumps of semi hardened butter that is needed for the success of these biscuits I have suggested in the instructions to put the buttermilk in the freezer--- in place of buttermilk mix 1-1/2 tablespoons white vinegar with milk to equal 1 cup then allow to sit for 10 minutes mixing often --- these are best served still warm :) -- posted by KITTENCAL

These are so delicious, savory and moist. They are definitely a convenience, because you use Bisquik. However, they don't taste like you used an instant mix. They are perfect as a dinner roll and they are just as delicious and moist when you heat up any leftover muffins. They complement any meat or fish. I always end up giving this recipe out whenever I make them and people can't get over how easy they are. Cheesy, Dilly, Oniony, Savory.....MMMMMMMM! NOTE: I have used skim milk and dried minced onion in place of fresh before and they honestly come out just as delicious! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner!
Whole Wheat Bread Machine Rolls

We LOVE these rolls. This recipe would probably make good bread too. We've used these rolls to make little sandwiches with as well as putting them on the side with dinner.

It isn't real sweet, so be prepared for a true wheat taste. I've successfully substituted honey for half the sugar and soured milk for the water.

The great thing about this recipe is that you can alter it to fit your needs. Want Italian rolls? Just add Italian seasoning in the mix then sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese and parsley before baking. Super easy and the bread machine does all the work for you!

NOTE: Prep time includes time in bread machine for mixing and kneading. -- posted by T-Reed

Our Daily Bread in a Crock - Weekly Make and Bake Rustic Bread

Make up a large batch of rustic artisanal bread dough, store it and then bake a loaf each day you need fresh bread, amazing but true! This is a hodge podge of old fashioned English and French rustic bread recipes; the bread dough is made up ahead of time and stored (in the old days) in an earthenware crock or bowl, with a lid. You tear a piece of the dough off as and when you want to bake a loaf of bread. Easy! I use this style of bread dough regularly in the B and B, so I can always have fresh bread or bread rolls on hand for breakfast. You can add other types of flour to the basic white batch, as long as the ratio remains the same - you can mix rye or wholewheat flour with the white, or add herbs, onions, seeds, fruit and other flavourings. The dough can be used as soon as the initial proving has finished, but it will keep in a cool place or a fridge for a week or two - I do not recommend longer than 2 weeks however. The dough can be used for free form bread loaves, in bread tins, as rolls or other shapes. I have kept this technique and recipe to myself for a while, but I have decided to share it on Zaar now, mainly as my daughter keeps asking for the basic dough recipe! I notice that this type of long-term or long-life bread dough has made a revival in a new book called “Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day”; this recipe however, is a very old technique and method, dough was always made up for the week and then kept in the cold room or pantry for daily baking. My grandmother who lived in a 600 year old cottage in Northern England, used to have a stone slab in the Pantry where she kept her crock and dough, I remember sticking my finger in it!! This amount makes about 4 to 5 loaves of bread, depending on the weight and shape of the bread that you bake. -- posted by French Tart

Bavarian Pretzels/ Pretzel Rolls (Laugenbrezeln)

This easy recipe is from one of my all time favorite bread making cookbooks Local Breads by Daniel Leader with Lauren Chattman with the directions tweaked just a little. I usually double the recipe and have always had outstanding results. The dough can be refrigerated from 2-24 hours so I sometimes bake 1 batch and then save the rest of the dough for the next day so they are fresh. I mostly use the recipe to make pretzel rolls and often wrap the dough around hot dogs or sausages which are a favorite of my DS. I occasionally add a little extra flour depending on the weather to get my dough as directed below. The dough should be a little moist/ sticky. Add only a tablespoon at a time if extra is needed. Please read the recipe through before starting. This recipe prints out as 2 pages for those that may want to set their print job to 2 sided :) -- posted by Brenda.

This recipe came from a book i purchased called "More Breaking Bread" with Father Dominic Garramone. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE onion so these are very oniony and they same me time because of the bread machine!!
Ever come home and wonder what's for dinner?
There are alot of recipes out there for this quick and tasty bread but they all make a large bread that's just too much for my small family. I created this yummy version for those of us who need a smaller "loaf". It's the perfect size for 2 adults and 1 or 2 kids. I make mine in a small heart shaped springform pan.
Best Buttermilk Biscuits

I found a recipe in the 12th Edition of the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook and modified it a bit to suit my liking. I served them along side a hearty beef stew. My husband proclaimed they are by far the best biscuits I've ever made. They turned out flaky and buttery and raised so nicely that we could actually peel the layers apart. -- posted by MarthaStewartWanabe

Kittencal's Soft and Tender Pull-Apart Garlic Rolls/Buns

if you are a garlic-lover then you will love these tender soft homemade buns, I suggest for U.S. members to use 2-1/2 cups bread flour or can use half bread and all-purpose flour, for Canadian members you may use 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, make certain that your egg is at room temperature you may speed up the process by placing the cold egg in a small bowl of fairly warm water (not hot) for about 15 minutes --- these are at their best when eaten warm out of the oven :) -- posted by KITTENCAL

Hamburger Buns

This has a nice backstory to it (don't all my
recipes ha ha:-) A friend of mine who lives way out in Washington State told me about her Fleischmann's Yeast Breads booklet. She got it in a mixer she received as a wedding gift over 25 years ago. She says the recipes in the booklet are sooooo good she has worn her booklet to a frazzle-pages are coming loose, dog-eared, you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I decided I'd try to find her a new one (or a good used one) I spent weeks searching the web looking on ebay, amazon, alibris and every little site I knew of to find a copy. Finally after 3 months of looking I found two copies on ebay-bid on em and got both of em for a real good price! Boy was she happy. She told me about this bun recipe and how great it was and that I should try making them. She was right (she usually is:-) These make very good buns. You can add sesame or poppy seeds to the tops with an egg wash. With summer fast upon us I thought I'd send this one in. I use these all the time when I make my Blue Mill Tavern Sandwiches I've posted to this site. Enjoy! Makes 8 buns. P.S. I'm very sad to say my friend who told me of this recipe has gone on to be with the Lord. I shall miss her very very much but I know she is now with her beloved husband and family who passed before her. Thank you Kath for making me a better person (and a better baker!). -- posted by plantfreek

Quick Gluten Free Cinnamon Rolls

The idea to make these popped into my mind when I made **Jubes** Quick Gluten Free Scones #220200 for the first time. Instead of cutting out scones I rolled the flattened dough and thought that actually I could have filled it. So I made a second batch of dough and made up my own version of cinnamon roll filling. I really liked that they were not overly sweet as the dough is not sweetened. As usual, I used rice syrup, but will suggest honey which might be slightly sweeter. Instead of the pine nuts you can of course use any other nut you like. I thought about pecans and maple syrup for the filling - if anyone feels like trying that, please tell me how it turned out! -- posted by Mia in Germany

Gourmet Scones - Add Any Fruit!

This is a basic gourmet scone recipe. In this recipe, I am using strawberries, but you can use a variety of fruit(s) (blueberry, strawberry-rhubarb, currant, raspberry, peach, pumpkin, etc).

Also, I tend to use splenda instead of sugar, since I'm splurging in the calorie department with the whipping cream!!!

Biscuits for 2 ( or 4 )

As you know most biscuit recipes make anywhere from 8 to 12 biscuits. And some time that's just way too much for two ( or 4 ) people. While I was looking through my treasured 1996 Taste of Home Annual Recipes, I discovered this recipe that was sent into them by Sylvia McCoy of Lees Summit, Missouri. While making this recipe, I did make a couple of changes on the way that they were made. But, I don't think it affected the finished product. For higher biscuits, I double sifted the dry ingredients( I've always done that :) )If you have the above mentioned Cookbook, please check page 191 for the original recipe.I know this seems like alot of steps, but it's really easy. :)Submitted to " ZAAR " on October 6th, 2009 -- posted by Chef shapeweaver ©

Parmesan Kaiser Rolls

Received on an email from Chowhound - these look delicious! "These rolls, sometimes called Vienna rolls, are the go-to bread for a thick, juicy burger or a deli sandwich stuffed with all the fixings. This version incorporates a slightly easier shaping technique and a touch of Parmesan for an irresistible tanginess."

Sarasota's Simple Ale Biscuits

This is the perfect match for my Beer Cheese Spread. I love to serve these with chili or brats on a Sunday Football afternoon. Even though it is FL, we still enjoy warm comfort foods like brats, chili, beer cheese dips, warm biscuits, football on the tube, and cozy fireplace afternoons. Believe it or not, I do use my fireplace. But regardless ... The Fall and Winter months scream comfort foods and this is one of them. It is quick and easy to make. -- posted by SarasotaCook

Sticky Buns (Bread Machine)

Use your bread machine after dinner to make these sticky buns. Then refrigerate overnight, and pop them into the oven in the morning. What a way to start your day! NOTE: If you prefer to bake them right away, let the buns rise at room temperature, lightly covered with plastic wrap, about 45 minutes or until they are puffy and the tops are about as high as the pan itself. -- posted by buckeye1953

Easy French Onion Biscuits

Another quick and easy recipe. This was in a small Bisquick Recipe book I got years ago. I added the cheese, but can't take all the credit, but they are still really good. Just mix and bake. Five (5) minutes to make, 15 minutes to bake and on the table. The best part is that these are just as great for company as they are for every night. I like to serve with a herb butter. -- posted by SarasotaCook

Cinnamon Rolls With a Cream Cheese Dough (Saveur)

This recipe for cinnamon rolls calls for folding the cream cheese into the layers of dough which makes for very rich and moist rolls. This dough may be prepared a day in advance and left to rise in the refrigerator overnight. You can play with the filling - omit the nuts and/or raisins, it's still great. This recipe was published in Saveur Magazine.
