It is great served with stir-fried veggies or fennel bulb, and I suspect it would taste delicious with rice or potatoes for a more substantial meal. 			<title>Honey-Roasted Pear Salad With Thyme and Verjus Dressing</title>

			<description>An elegant and sophisticated salad that makes good use of verjus (verjuice) in the dressing. I use a local blue cheese, such as Roquefort in this salad; however, please do use a local blue cheese of your choice - any creamy or robust blue cheese will marry well with the pears and tart dressing. Verjuice, or verjus, is the juice of unripe grapes. This staple of French provincial cooking, a key ingredient in Dijon mustard, has the tartness of lemon juice and the acidity of vinegar, but the harshness of neither. Its delicate flavour is ideal for everything from stocks to sweet syrups - as long as you know what you're doing. Verjus was also a common ingredient used in English cooking throughout the Middle Ages. I try to make a batch of verjus every year with the green grapes from my non-dessert grape vine - as I love cooking with it. This recipe came from an old copy of Bon Appetit magazine from 2005. 			<description>Canlis, Seattle, Washington. Bisques are creamy, rich soups based on a flavorful puree. The foundation of this one is a generous amount of fall's wild mushrooms, one of the more prized culinary treats each year in the Northwest. At Canlis, the chefs often use chanterelles, hedgehog mushrooms, or morels when they're in season, though the bisque is also delicious made with cultivated varieties such as shiitake mushrooms. The flavor and texture of the bisque will vary with the type (or types) you choose to use. It's made extra-rich with heavy cream at the restaurant, but you could lighten the bisque a touch by using half-and-half instead.

			<description>Sophmore year of highschool I jobshadowed a pastry chef, and she told me that the best icing to use for cake is meringe buttercream. So I went online, found a cute little blog that told me all the steps in detail. mmhmhmm. Makes very fluffy frosting, great for decorating! Has a great texture, but unfortunately, it's VERY fattening because of all the butter, and also it has a pretty prominent butter flavor. That's my disclaimer. But don't be discouraged! When I discovered this recipe, I never went back to regular buttercream. Anyway, I'm working on a less fattening version involving gelatin. Pio Quinto is a Nicaraguan dessert consisting of cake drenched in rum, 
topped with a custard, and dusted with cinnamon. Some recipes also include raisins. Pio Quinto is eaten after meals or during Christmas time. But I make these for myself as a treat now and then, or maybe a birthday dinner, anniversary, having friends over, etc.  They are rich so you really don't need that many per person and served with a couple of nice side dishes they are more affordable than you think.  Costco, Sams Club and Trader Joe's puts them on sale all the time. Just watch for the sale and then pick some up. This happens to be one of my favorite recipes. I have been marinating my pork and my lamb like this for years, and the creamy onions was a recipe I found a few years ago on the web. But together, they make the perfect combination.
