Tri-Tip Marinade

It's our favorite marinade for tri-tip. The original recipe is from the Food Network site, but I've changed it quite a bit. It's SO tender and flavorful!! Marinate for at least 6 hours or over night. This is enough marinade for a 2-3 lb. tri-tip. -- posted by HeidiSue

Caribbean Jerk Shrimp

This is a quick and simple recipe that is as appropriate for a tailgate party as it is to serve your boss or in-laws.
Serve as a finger food with or without cocktail sauce. Or for a sit down dinner, serve over greens with an Asian style dressing, or with a stir fry of veggies prepared the same as the shrimp in a separate skillet or wok and cooked about 10 minutes on slightly lower heat. -- posted by I <3 Cookbooks

Grilled Portabella Mushroom Caps

Want an impressive side for a summer BBQ? This is the way to go. Very little prep time and really no fuss. You can even serive it as an appetizer. I deliberatly use dried spices so I know I've got what I need on hand. My husband doesn't eat dairy, but I imagine topping with a gorgonzola or even a hard cheese like parmesan or romano would be a great addition. -- posted by Shandobando

Mangoes Foster With Creme Fraiche (By Bobby Flay)

I first saw Bobby Flay prepare this on the Food Network in 2007. It was a featured recipe during a segment called "Boy Meets Grill" in the episode called Dinner on the Grill. It looked so good so I just had to try it. It was an immediate hit with my family. I have made this on the grill (as Bobby Flay prepared it) as well as on my stovetop, and it comes out fantastic each time. -- posted by NorthwestGal

Grilled Vegetables

This is a great side dish or can use as entree. Terrific folded in a tortilla, even cold. Have also put on sub rolls with cheese for a vegetarian entree. I often double since this has so many uses later in the week for meals. Have also made a cold pasta salad with these chopped or a hot pasta dish topped with parmesan and added cooked cubed chicken. Use your choice of vegetables (asparagus, green beans), but this is what I like. Serving size based on a side dish. -- posted by Vicki in CT

My dad made these when I was a kid and now it is a staple at every family barbecue. My DH has turned it into his 'pet recipe' and I must say, it is DElicious! The times are approximate because we always cook it on the grill although it can be done in the oven and they vary depending on the size of cabbage you use. Also you may not need all of the butter and probably only half of the cheese, but we always make at least two heads. -- posted by 2SpiceItUp

Hawaii Da Kine Burgers W/ Sweet-Chili Glaze & Goat Cheese

Sutter Home's 2008 Build a Better Burger ® Winner!!!!
"Da kine" is a key phrase in Hawaiian Pidgin, the language of the "locals." It can mean almost anything, but commonly refers to something good or genuine, or as in this case, "the best."

This burger is as local as it gets, both in taste and ingredients. The patties are tender and juicy, thanks to fresh papaya and sweet onion, and are spiced with Hawaiian Portuguese sausage, which is so popular in Hawaii that it is on every breakfast menu (including McDonald’s). The accompanying salad employs heating oil to its smoking point, a local cooking method, resulting in a dynamite burger accompaniment. To complete the Hawaiian flavoring, I added a sweet glaze (Hawaiians love sweet and savory) and was inspired by our award-winning goat dairy to create a mouth-watering ginger-infused cheese spread. Ho, dat's da kine!

Yummy Ribs - Baked & BBQ'd - Easy!!

This is a recipe discovery (and my first posting of a recipe) but I've gotten so many amazing recipes off this site that I thought I owe it to the site to post an amazing and super-easy rib recipe. The delicious part of this is that it is so completely HANDS OFF that they can cook all day with a quick finish on the bar-b and your guests will be crooning for hours. Make lots - they go quick!! I should mention this recipe is so flexible - adjust however you like and you'll still get an amazing result!! I like to serve it with baked sweet potato (simply chop up a sweet potato, wrap in foil, and throw them in the oven for the last 30-45 mins) and coleslaw. mmmm goood. You can also "improve" any store bought sauce by adding ketchup, brown sugar or maple syrup or honey to suit your tastes - if you like garlic, add that too for a personalized "wow" result. -- posted by pamcake

Grilled Veg

I know, it doesn't really take much to sort out grilling vegetables. Consider this a base recipe to which you could adjust or add any flavourings you like, to best suit your meal. I like this combo, it goes well with most bbq'd items. It makes enough marinade to grill veggies for 4 - give or take. I don't have an exact measurement for how much veg to use, so for instance; 2-3 zucchini or 1 lg vegatable marrow, with a few bell peppers and some mushrooms is about right for 4. Anytime I turn on the bbq I grill up some veg like this to use in salads and sandwiches etc. If it's more of a main feature of your bbq'd meal, you might want to serve with a garlic mayo or other sauce along side. (Prep time includes the hour to marinate...give it longer if you can). -- posted by magpie diner

YUM, YUM, YUM! And easy too :). The instructions are easier than they look - I was just being specific. This chicken cooks much quicker than a regular whole chicken because of the method that I use. Only 2 ingredients makes this a quick last minute delicious dish. Adjust the amount of rub used according to your own taste; I use 2 tablespoons total. If you don't have rub, you can just use some salt and pepper. The cooking time may vary slightly as not all barbeques cook at the same temperature. Enjoy! -- posted by Nif

Make a batch of this versatile sauce, then serve it all week. You can spoon it over grilled fish, chicken, or meats—or use it to fill quesadillas or burritos. My family is addicted to them. -- posted by JacquelynLee
