Easy and Delicious German Chocolate Cake

My husband requested a German Chocolate Cake for his birthday this year. Unfortunately (as usual) I didn't give myself enough time to make one *completely* from scratch, but you would never know by tasting it. I took a few recipe ideas from a friend of mine and came up with this. It was easy and quick to prepare, super-moist and absolutely delicious! And, yes, I know it's really called German's chocolate! : ) -- posted by itsnevrenough

Angelina’s Hot Chocolate

The Angelina Cafe in Paris, open since 1903, serves a thick hot chocolate in demitasse cups with a tiny dollop of mascarpone and whipped cream. They are famous for making hot chocolate from melted chocolate bars. It is incredibly easy to prepare by mixing chocolate shavings with hot water. You can serve it in small cups or in 17th-century style chocolate pots and demitasse cups such as those sold in gourmet shops. -- posted by Annacia

Raspberry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt

Super Easy Molten Chocolate Cake

Martha Stewart's SUPER EASY, SUPER RICH molten chocolate cake. I always thought making these would be so hard, but this is SO EASY! They're small (individual cupcake sized), but I'm sure you could use ramekins or something. They're also crusted with sugar after they come out of the oven. mmm.

Martha said it makes exactly 6 cakes (1/4 cup of batter each), but I guess my muffin tins must run small, because I filled 6 and had enough for 2 more left over.

I would butter and sugar extra tins first, and then wipe them out if they're unneeded, because it's hard to butter and sugar tins when there's batter in some.

You can also melt the chocolate either in the microwave (use 1-2 minute increments, and stir between), or in a double boiler over the stove. -- posted by miraclelove77

Choc Cherry Christmas Puddings (Vegan, Wheat Free)

You will not find a yummier chocolate dessert let alone one that is vegan and wheat free with no added fat or oil. I sell these to a local health food store. They are magnificient straight out the oven and also reheated for 20sec in the microwave once cooled. Alternatively they double as a cold brownie type treat which is equally delicious. The result of this recipe depends highly on using a good quality dark chocolate. I reccommend a 70% cocoa blend and chop it by hand or a food processor. -- posted by canthelpmyself

Brownie Cognac

You will never guess where I found this recipe, so I'm just gonna tell you. Bored & browsing the net while DH was napping after dinner, I got my wkly RZ Newsletter & started browsing it instead. In the bottom right corner of the pg, there was an ad from HGTV that said *Dream Home 2009 is open* so I went to look at it. While taking their virtual tour of the home & on Pg 10 of 20, an ad appeared in the top right corner that said *HOLIDAY COCKTAILS* (10 Recipes for Merry Drinks). This 1 captured so much of my attention that I did not even bother to look at the rest. The recipe gave the source as *Guillermo Nassif* of the *Guadalupe Restaurant* in New York City. *Enjoy* ! -- posted by twissis

Triple Chocolate Mousse Pie

For chocolate lover's only! Got this recipe last week after having this at a friends Christmas Party... First of all, it's HEAVENLY. Everyone kept talking about this pie & with word of mouth, it was gone before most could try it... I got to try it & it is delicious! I didn't even think I was that into chocolate, but this is very creamy & looked so pretty on the Holiday dessert table as it was garnished with puffs of whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate, topped with red cherries & green sprinkles... totally decadent!
FYI: you can make pie crumb crust ahead of time & freeze or in a pinch use a store bought chocolate crumb Oreo pie shell... -- posted by BlondieItaliana

These little molten chocolate-cherry cakes are perfect to serve on Valentine's Day for a very special dessert. When you cut into them, chocolate comes "oozing" out, so good! Remember, it is very important to serve these cakes warm from the oven. Be sure to make the dipped cherrries ahead and have them ready. -- posted by Annacia

Instant Chocolate Mousse

If you're looking for a sweet surprise for your Valentine, or just because, this will fit the bill! This can be made the day of, but encourage you to not make it any earlier. This is a fantastic dessert! It only takes about 15 minutes from start to finish! Go for it! Try a small chocolate bowl that you can get at specialty stores and most bakeries. They also have small chocolate cups, which works great as well.If you can't find the bowls or cups, try putting it in a pretty wine glass or a martini glass. -- posted by FLUFFSTER

Mini Neapolitan Baked Alaskas

From Healthy Cooking magazine--individual serving sized baked Alaskas, made with reduced fat strawberry ice cream. You can use other flavors, too, to make other kinds of baked Alaskas than Neapolitan: mint for Grasshopper, coffee for Mocha, etc. You will need some foil muffin liners for this. I haven't tried it yet, but will when I get the opportunity. You could prepare the ice cream/wafer part in advance, then make the meringue and finish it up shortly before serving--I'd suggest placing plastic wrap over it to prevent the ice cream from drying out and not leaving it in for more than a few hours, maybe 8 or so (such as preparing in the morning to serve the same evening). -- posted by Halcyon Eve

Mayan Chocolate Sparklers

A friend pointed me to this recipe (which I've changed slightly) on the blog MontCarte that is adapted from a recipe on Under the Highchair. I love recipes involving spiced chocolate. These cookies are absolutely delicious and they smell wonderful while baking. I didn't want to leave the kitchen! The topping gives the cookie a sparkly look and a wonderful crunch accented by a hint of heat from the cayenne pepper. The MontCarte blogger substituted the vegetable shortening with additional unsalted butter, but her cookies were crumbly as a result. I used vegetable shortening and my cookies crumbled very little. I've switched to bread flour in this cookie recipe. I will produce cookies with lasting softness. If that's not something you want, the bread flour can easily be replaced with all-purpose flour. If you plan to serve these to sensitive mouths and tummies, leave out the chili powder and cayenne but keep the black pepper to still achieve the spiced-chocolate taste without the burn. I prefer to use freshly ground black pepper for this recipe to achieve a stronger note in the taste. If you have an audience who's hesitant to spiced chocolate, dub these cookies simply "chocolate cookies" and watch for a reaction. I've seen these cookies win over many a cinnamon-chocolate, pepper-chocolate hater. Yield of this recipe is around 5 dozen and serving size is 2-3 cookies but I usually eat twice that amount in each sitting. The cookies great well with a glass of milk or crumbled over ice cream. -- posted by Graceless Ally

Healthy Cocoa Chocolate Chip Banana Pancakes

Raspberry Mirror Mousse Cake

This recipe is from CanadianLiving.com. It requires a lot of time and TLC, but when done correctly, is absolutely amazing. There are many time-sensitive elements in the recipe, so make sure you read it through well before starting. The directions should take you through preparation in the best manner for everything to be done at just the right time, and do require going back and forth between different elements to check. The size of spring-form pan you use is very important. I made it once with a larger size, and the bottom layer was so thin that in transfer, it fell apart in my hands. -- posted by Vicki in Houston, TX

Spanish Hot Chocolate - Chocolate a La Taza

Everyone who goes to Spain has to try the hot chocolate. It's so delicious & can be used to dunk Spanish Churros in for breakfast.

This recipe is just for the hot chocolate & I will also add my recipe for Spanish Churros as they really go hand in hand.

This has a creamy, thick consistancy, it's very indulgent & can really give us women that chocolate fix we all need from time to time.
The recipe can also be adjusted according to taste by adding more/less sugar or even omitting it depending on chocolate used or if you like very sweet drinks.

I like to make enough to fill 2 big mugs for my daughter & I. We love it at anytime of the day.
My daughter likes to add a squirt of cream & a cadburys flake sprinkled on top. I just prefer it on it's own.
Anyway, make it - I'm sure you'll love it. -- posted by Wakey lass Lisa

Chocolate Banana Cake from Canadian Living

The name "Chocolate Banana Cake" does not do this dessert justice. Not even remotely. Banana-chocolate chip cake is layered with white chocolate whipped cream and banana slices, while the entire thing is covered in white chocolate whipped cream and topped with chocolate ganache. Just incredible. Add nuts for extra flavor. The recipe comes from a Canadian Living cookbook and can be found on the Canadian Living website.
Warm Double-Chocolate Brownie Cakes

From delish.com - Brownie meets cake in this fun dessert from Emily Luchetti, a cookbook author and the executive pastry chef at San Francisco’s Farallon. She bakes the batter in muffin cups so the edges turn crispy and chewy like a brownie, but the inside becomes soft and fluffy like a cake. **The brownie cakes can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature up to 2 days.
Milk-Chocolate Cremoso With Espresso Parfait

This is another recipe on my best-friend Judy's list for her summer party. Recipe by Chef Michael Schwartz from "Michael's Genuine Food & Drink" at 130 NE 40th Street, in Miami, Fl where it is a showcase for it's Chef/Owner's cuisine The dessert is listed as: "Chocolate Cremoso with sea salt, olive oil, sourdough crostini & espresso parfait for $9" . Miamians are assumed to be too bikini-conscious to indulge in this dessert - a decadent milk-chocolate cremoso (a silky pudding-like dish) drizzled with olive oil; however, it is one of the best-sellers at Michael's. "Some people are like, - olive oil & chocolate? But the olive oil reinforces the richnerss of the cremoso. Like you really need more richness.!" At least 4 hours chilling time The cremoso can be refrigerated for up to 3 days; the espresso parfait can be frozen for up to a week. From Miami's Got Good Taste in F&W Magazine, published in the December 2008 Edition - this is also a staff favorite. What is NOT to be liked? :) -- posted by Manami

A sweet, crumbly graham cracker crust is topped with a dense, very adult, very rich, and very boozy chocolate cream ;).The combination of liquers here is by no means written in stone: dark rum, Grand Marnier, bourbon -- just pick two or three complimentary flavors. Dark Chocolate is for romance, milk chocolate for nurturing, and peanut butter for the prevention of poverty. If you mix it all together you get steadfast love in times of hardship!
Chilli Choccy Eggs

I got the idea to add the chilli to the eggs from the Lindt chocolate block. Chocolate eggs filled with a creamy chocolate centre with a hint of chilli. This is a great flavour combination, the chilli is subtle but something quite different. I have also added Amarula Cream, Bailey's and Frangelico on other occasions, the possibilities are endless.
This can make as many eggs as you choose, it depends on the size of the moulds. -- posted by BeeJaye

My hubby loves Chocolate Covered Cherries. I bought a box yesterday and when I got up this morning there was a single one left in the box. I just know that in his self sacrificing way he was just protecting me from the evil sugar (Yeah, right! lol). Anyway, I had coffee making and when it was done I just popped that morsel into my coffee cup without really thinking about it. Well, YUM! -- posted by Annacia

Savoy Chocolate - Cioccolata Di Savoia

Very simple Italian dessert but very very delicious & authentic. This is great for a romantic evening dessert or for at a dinner party, the beauty being that this is creamy & luxurious with very little effort or ingredients. -- posted by JinxTheCat

Chocolate Chip Waffles

I used my Belgian waffle machine for these, although you can use any type of waffle iron as these are not true Belgian style waffles. These were so good and did not last long at all. I don't remember how many this made - I think about 8 full round waffles. Next time I make them, I will update the amount with more accurate info on the servings. I just know I wished I had made a second batch ;) The Zaar computer requires that I enter a cook time, but the time will vary based on each individual machine - I guess at about 7 minutes per waffle, but please test one out on your machine first for more accurate timing. -- posted by HeatherFeather

Lower Calorie Quick Hot Fudge

This is a quick hot fudge recipe that I use when I really want to indulge. You can mix in any kind of 70% Cocoa and above chocolate bars (bars usually come as 2 oz, so you would need 2). I prefer to use Dagoba pure unsweetened chocolate. Whatever is available will work. -- posted by Southern Kitchen Gardener

Miniature Austrian Sachertorte

Sachertorte, one of Austria's most famous desserts, was created in the 1830s by baker Franz Sacher. Here is an updated version of the classic recipe, made into individual servings using a muffin tin. The moist, light cake is topped with a glistening chocolate icing and served with a dollop of warm Cointreau spiked apricot jam. A lovely special occasion dessert!
