Apple Wheat Bread (Bread Machine)

Light but hearty bread machine recipe with apples and nice spices. Found this on another web site and it was credited as originally coming from The Ultimate Bread Machine Cookbook. I added more yeast and slightly more apples. The crust is a bit crunchy, which I like. -- posted by Stepher K

Easy French Bread (Extra Large)

Easy French Bread using the breadmaker to mix and the oven to bake. The bread machine is a great invention, but I find the bread tastes better when it bakes in the oven. Prepare at least 3 hours before serving. To make a regular sized loaf, change the number of servings to 1/2 a loaf. -- posted by Claudia Dawn

Bread Machine Bread Bowls

I've been finding that making bread bowls can be tricky because if you let them rise too long, they tend to flatten out. Try to stick to the timing as best you can.
I used to buy these breakfast "pitas" from the grocery store, but figured out how to make them at home - for a heck of alot less. They're more like small, flatbreads, and I slice them in half, toast them, and spread them with peanut butter, honey, or jam. Yum!
Fat Free Bread Machine English Muffin Bread

My Dad's favorite bread for toast! I have been making this bread since 1970! This bread is super fast to put together and I let the bread machine do the work and bake it in a 1 quart casserole in the conventional oven. Good for toast, soups, stews and the occasional cheese sandwich. Prep time does not include rising time, just how long it takes to throw the ingredients into the A B M pan. -- posted by Secret Agent

This is a DELICIOUS recipe that I found in the 2002 Iowa State Fair Cookbook. I love that it works in a bread machine but it also can be assembled with the dough setting and baked in a traditional pan. The color and texture are divine.

Bread Machine French Bread Dough

Easy to make enjoyed by all recipe for your bread machine. We make 1 loaf about 12in long often using it for homemade garlic bread as well as sandwich bread. Also we have made dinner rolls (approx 9) and it works just fine for these. This recipe came from our bread machine booklet and after trying several different recipes we always revert back to this no fail one. Please enjoy.
Pumpernickel-Prune Bread (Abm)

Based on a recipe from BH&G’s cookbook, Bread Machine Bounty. The default measures are for the 1 pound loaf, and I’ve placed the 1 ½ pound measures in parentheses. My photo shows a 1 pound loaf. Cooktime reflects my Panasonic; your machine could make it in a lot less time! Tip: I always stir my flours before measuring; this seems to give me the most consistent results. I also check the dough during the kneading cycle to see if more liquid is necessary; for this bread, I added several tablespoons of extra water to get a nice elastic dough. -- posted by mersaydees

Whole Wheat Bread Machine Bread

A great every-day bread, good for toast and sandwiches. I have dark, coated metal pans, so I bake it at 350. This came from a great frugality blog called Wanting What You Have.
A flavourful pizza dough that I often make ahead and refrigerate (can be frozen as well). Using the bread machine makes homemade pizza crust extremely easy! I use this dough for flatbread for bruschetta, as well. This recipe makes two 12" thin crust pizzas, one 14" thick crust pizza, or one 15x10" thin crust "party" pizza.
Portuguese Sofrito Bread (A B M)

Based on a recipe from Madge Rosenberg’s delightful cookbook, The Best Bread Machine Cookbook Ever – Ethnic Breads. She says, “In Portugal, slowly sautéed onions are called sofrito, a deeply flavored beginning, or base, for dishes with rice or potatoes and for stews. The Italian soffritto adds herbs and celery; the Columbian adds annatto seeds. With roasted meat or chicken from any country, pass this Portuguese sofrito bread, or make an open-faced grilled cheese sandwich to remember.” The default measurements are for a small 1 pound loaf; I have placed measurements for a large 1 ½ pound loaf in parentheses. I listed 4 hours as the bake time; your bread machine may have a quicker basic bread cycle. NOTE: be sure to use cooked rice! I haven’t tried this yet. -- posted by mersaydees

Easy Farmhouse Multi-Grain Bread (For Bread Machine)

I LOVE whole grain breads but hate paying three and a half bucks for a loaf. I cobbled this together to have as a quick and easy recipe using a minimum of things one would have to run to the store for. I have pretty much every ingredient on this list on hand most of the time. The only "special" item is the rolled whole grain hot cereal. I can find Bob's Red Mill quite easily and inexpensively, and a bag of it will make several loaves of bread. You can use seven-grain or ten-grain or 100-grain cereal if you want, of course.

This makes a really nice, soft, delicious loaf- perfect for sandwiches, with the nubby texture of the whole grains that I Iove so much. UPDATE: I also thought this bread just need a little "something" and now add 1/2 cup apple sauce. Put the apple sauce in your liquid measure first, then add the milk until they both together measure just under one cup. -- posted by lolsuz

Banana Nut Raisin Bread for Abm

I found this recipe on allrecipes.com and wanted to post it here for safe keeping. This is the best thing that has ever come out of my bread machine! A light fluffy tasty bread that my family gobbled up and asked for more! Remove your predetermined ideas of banana bread and try this yeast bread, the banana flavor is very subtle, but I think it adds to the nice texture. I am posting the recipe as I found it, but be warned I had to reduce the amount of yeast I used because when i used it with the full 2 1/2 teaspoons the dough spilled over the top of my ABM. I had better results with 2 tsp. -- posted by Darling76

Grinder Buns... Like Mancino's Abm

I came up with this recipe when I needed a recipe for sturdy sub buns. So I combined a couple of recipes, and these came out just like Mancino's grinder buns. Slightly crisp on the outside, slightly soft on the inside and sturdy enough to hold up to the hardiest of fillings. -- posted by Not-2-Sweet

Another Cinnabon-Type Cinnamon Bun

This recipe is my adaptation of a really good recipe I found on The Gordon Family website. (http://www.gordonfamily.com/Recipes/cinnabon.htm). I adapted the dough recipe a little and use more filling than they recommend but their Cream Cheese Frosting is FAR better than any other I've ever found. I think the secret is in the use of lemon extract as well as vanilla. It creates just the right tartness. They suggest beating the frosting about 10 minutes but I never have and I have made this a thousand times. Everyone I know loves these buns. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do. -- posted by Marysdottir

Five Grain Health Bread

This is a darker chewy wheat bread that is not sweet like many of the versions I have found. It is originally from "The Bread Machine Cookbook", but I added yeast and vital wheat gluten to keep it from being too dense. Make this in your bread machine on the dough cycle. It is a 1-1/2 pound loaf, but I usually bake it in two 8.5 x 4.5 pyrex loaf pans. -- posted by Chef #1271827

Sourdough Raisin Walnut Bread (Abm)

About a month ago, my landlord told me about a bread that he and his wife love, made by a local bakery, Ace Bakery. I thought I would try to mimic the recipe and make some for them, so I had a peek on their website to see what ingredients are in it, only to find it contained sourdough, which I'd just become interested in making. Fast forward to a month later, I have a healthy starter, and gave this a try with excellent results! Many thanks to chef #2586, whose recipe #31998 gave me the basic tools to create this one from.
Sourdough French Bread - Abm (Amish Bread Starter)

This is a great way to easily make some REAL bread with your Amish Bread starter. So tasty!!! I came up with this recipe through trial and error (lots of error before success). This bread is light and yummy, yet sturdy enough to cut nice slices. It's a tad bit sweet from the starter and is great for a PBJ, chicken salad sandwich, french toast, or simply toast with butter as a snack. Love it.
Rustic Brown Bread (Abm)

I have been on a quest to find a recipe for the brown bread we make in the Maritimes and I am hoping this is it. LOL
I am posting for safe keeping . Have not made this yet but will as soon as what is here is eaten up.
This is from the Robin hood flour website.
This is for a Bread Machine.
NOTE: I have finally made this bread . I did add about 1/2 cup extra bread flour during the mixing in the ABM. I only use the dough setting . Then removed from the ABM added about 1/4 cup more with a very light knead, placed in the loaf pan let rise about 45 minutes and then baked. It make a HUGE loaf. Next time I will make a smaller loaf and a few buns ( probably 6 smallish ones)
We really enjoyed this bread . Not overly sweet or yeasty tasting and very light and fluffy.

My Grandma's Potato Rolls or Potato Bread (For Bread Machine)

This is my Grandma's recipe and it is DELISH! I am not sure where she got it from, but these rolls have been a tradition in our family for as long as I can remember. This recipe uses REAL mashed potatoes (not instant flakes). So, when you plan to make this be sure to reserve 1/2 to 1 c. of the mashed potatoes you served at dinner the night before!! Today I was hungry for these rolls but didn't feel like rolling out dough, so I attempted to make the recipe (cut in half) in my bread machine to make a loaf of bread instead....PERFECT results! I have listed the ingredients the way my bread machine lists them, but do be sure to check manufacturer's instructions on the correct order of ingredients for your specific machine. I hope everyone enjoys this as much as our family does.

Below are both the rolls and the bread machine versions of this recipe. -- posted by SReiff

Light Wheat, Vienna Style Bread

This is my take on Beth Hensperger's Vienna Bread for automatic bread machines. Vienna bread has a fascinating history, starting in Austria. The recipe was taken to Denmark in the 19th century and further developed there including use of steam to cook the loaves. It's really more like many of today's French breads. This recipe uses a sponge that sits overnight at room temperature to develop an improved flavor. I tested this bread with no sponge, a 4 hour sponge and an overnight sponge. The flavor is noticeably better with an overnight sponge. I've made this completely in a bread machine and using a mixer and baking it as an oblong loaf which is the traditional shape. Vienna Bread is usually made with bread flour and certainly bread flour can be used entirely for this recipe. -- posted by Red Apple Guy

Xanathan gum is expensive but it lasts a very long time. I have subbed many different gf flours in this recipe, and they all turned out "fine" but this one is "fabulous". -- posted by Nurse Rain

Czech Sourdough Rye Bread [Šumava] in Bread Machine

For anyone who's been to the Czech Republic, this bread is available at all the stores, bakeries and restaurants. Here is an easy recipe that comes very close to the taste and texture, using a bread machine. Be sure to obtain (or produce) a thick rye-based sourdough starter and be sure to proof it. -- posted by Glenn Freeman

No-Salt White Bread

Very simple white bread recipe for breadmaker (if you're clever you can adapt for oven!) Whole wheat flour could be substituted. This is originally a medieval Tuscan recipe, created by peasants who couldn't afford the high taxes on salt. Perfect for those of us on low-sodium diets! -- posted by JennyMidget

Whole Wheat Seed Rolls

I combined the parts I liked of two different recipes to make this one. It's delicious just warm with butter, but it also tastes great with honey drizzled over it. I like to make it as rolls to take in my lunch along with salad, but you could also just do it as a 2 lb. loaf in the bread machine -- posted by Salamanders Scribe

Hearty Nut Bread (Abm)

I found this to be a light wheat bread, not sweet and not "yeasty". Very basic wheat bread. I have made it with walnuts and with pecans. . .both are good. See what you think! Recipe from the cookbook that came with my bread machine and I am supposed to put my ingredients in wet to dry. . . check your bread machine to make sure this is the order you are also supposed to follow (many do dry to wet). Recipe makes a 1 lb loaf -- posted by JanuaryBride
