Adzuki Bean Soup

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by FlemishMinx

Maybe I've made soup with these particular spices before, but I don't remember it. They were surprisingly terrific. Who knew allspice and cloves belonged in bean soup? I did cut the white pepper back to one tsp but otherwise made no changes.... — sugarpea Mar 24, 2009

Dukkah

I don't think I've ever had anything quite like this before and that's a shame because this is really good. Dh positively loved it. We had leftovers so I sprinkled it over the next day's chicken salad. Wonderful both ways. — sugarpea Mar 22, 2009

Homemade Italian Seasoning

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by s'kat

I too, needed the mix for Kim's Meatballs and the balance of flavors was great. No more reaching for 6 jars of whatever feels like "Italian" when it's called for. And no more having it taste different every time. Thanks. — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Meatballs

Posted by KIM WILSON

So far, it's unanimously 5 stars. I thought the flavor and texture were perfect as written. I did use 7% lean ground beef and ground veal because the store had it and I love it, and it's lower in fat. Other than the veal, I changed nothing. I used... — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Hot Brat and Tater Sandwich!

Posted by Koechin (Chef)

This was splurge heaven: turkey kielbasa, quality Emmentaler and homemade Hot German Potato Salad on bakery rye. Divine. I've no idea where you find canned German potato salad. Poor Dh, he didn't get any of the leftovers. I did. Definitely worth making the... — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

French Potato Salad (Light)

(2 people found this helpful) Posted by Maito

I don't think you can improve on this except maybe to use olive oil and fresh herbs when they're available. Use baby reds and this would truly be a tantalizing, guilt-free potato salad. — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Broiled Egg & Cheese Rolls

Posted by Brenda.

My favorite heartattck on a bun has ALWAYS been grilled egg salad with cheese. And this is a more perfect, flavorful version. When you need extra special care, take this one, for medicinal purposes, of course. 27*, 5 just aren't enough, Nick's... — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Zesty Potato Soup

Made this with cheddar cheese, homemade broth and skipped the butter - it seemed rich enough to me. Loved it AND this comfort soup is ready in half an hour. — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Very clever, very attractive and very tastey recipe, bmxmama. I subbed evaporated milk for the half-and-half but made no other changes. This one will be a repeat. — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

This looks sooo impressive, as if you spent a lot of time putting it together but of course, you don't have to. I guess that's part and parcel of being a Domestic Goddess? Delicious, cooledskin. Thanks for making me look grand. I made this in a... — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

White Bean Salad With Zucchini and Parmesan Cheese

Posted by fishywitch

One lemon was plenty of lemon for my tastes. Great ingredient combination, fishywitch. I really liked the parmesan crumbled rather than the usual shaved, shredded or grated. We had this last August with fresh ingredients and it was perfect. I... — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Picnic Pasta Salad

Posted by Chef #588563

Fabulous salad in no time and with almost no effort, just a little chopping. This salad is worthy of the parmesan reggiano. Only change I made was to use 1/2 the pasta, dressing and cheese with the full measure of the vegetables. — sugarpea Mar 20, 2009

Biscuits

Posted by cook from scratch

I decided to sub 1/4 c of the flour with whole wheat flour. It worked just fine and next time I'll try 1/2c. I increased the baking powder to 1T and made the butter version which resulted in a rich, fluffy biscuit everybody enjoyed. — sugarpea Mar 19, 2009

Poke & Pour Spice Cake

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by lilquiz

This is sooo decadently good. What a treat. Thank goodness we had lots of company or I'd have hurt myself. It smells as good as it tastes, baked in 45 minutes and disappeared in 15. I served it warm and made no changes. — sugarpea Mar 19, 2009

Pumpkin Creamy Pie

Dh is a butterscotch fiend so he loved this combination. So did I. I spooned it into wine goblets, layering it with the plain whipped cream and we had butterscotch-pumpkin pudding. Delicious. Only change I made was to use low fat versions of... — sugarpea Mar 19, 2009

Mom's Custard Pie

Dh loves custard pie. I surprised him with this one and when he finished he was grinning from ear to ear and I got the good wife gold star. It's simple, it's easy and it doesn't need any improvements. It fit a 9" pie crust perfectly. — sugarpea Mar 19, 2009

Spiced Egg Salad

Posted by ~Jen~

Hard boiled eggs and peanuts? My first experience and they're good together. This is intensely-flavored and we enjoyed it served on a bed of mixed lettuce and spinach. I cut back on the oil which probably contributed to the intensity. — sugarpea Mar 19, 2009

Barley & Rice Pilaf from Company's Coming

Broccoli Pasta With Creamy Garlic Dressing

Posted by Lvs2Cook

I can vouch for the great room temperature taste, Lvs2Cook. I used rotini, walnuts and the chickpeas and I was probably heavy-handed with the parmesan. This is an inspired, always available dressing for my kitchen and has uses limited only by the... — sugarpea Mar 19, 2009
