Homemade Twinkies

I am wondering if there is something missing from this recipe. I followed this recipe exactly and they came out very hard and tasted really bad. The traditional twinkie is more a light airy sponge cake recipe this was not like sponge cake at all. — Chef #951935 Sep 11, 2008
