Fudgy Brownies 1968

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by andypandy

Exactly what I was looking for in a brownie. Dense and chocolaty and simple to make. I used margerine instead of butter, as it's what I had on hand, and baked them in an 8 x 8 pan, so they were quite thick. Great! I'll keep it in rotation. — Kirby Aug 24, 2009

Ziti, Eggplant and Fontina Gratin

Posted by Manami

Very good use of eggplant. It soaks up the garlicky flavor and cheese, adding that promised creaminess. I will make extra eggplant to toss with any kind of pasta. Thanks! — Kirby Feb 18, 2009

Very simple to make, and delicious, too! Thanks for posting - this is very similar to my Grandma's recipe (which I can't find). It'll go into rotation. — Kirby Feb 5, 2009

Vegetable Rice (Parve)

Posted by Cynna

Simple and easy way to serve rice. Two side dishes in one. I used vegetable stock in lieu of water to give the rice even more flavor, and use basmati rice. I'll be keeping this in rotation. Thanks! — Kirby Jan 8, 2008

Potato Carrot Burger With Spiced Mayo

(2 people found this helpful) Posted by Anme

A tasty alternative to the bean-y type of veggie burger. I'd read the previous reviews and made sure to season the mixture well; I like spicy and I'm not afraid of the salt shaker, so I added hot paprika and garlic salt. I'll make these again,... — Kirby Jan 6, 2008

Homemade Graham Crackers

Posted by Anme

These had good flavor but the texture wasn't as firm as I wanted them to be. I didn't use shortening, but instead used margarine, so it may be my fault, and not the recipe! I'll try them again. The goal is to replace store bought on the pantry... — Kirby Jan 6, 2008

Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Posted by Lali

This was very simple to make with basic ingredients most people have on hand. This makes very rich pudding, more like mousse. But if you're used to boxed instant, this will of course be overwhelming in it's fabulous-ness. I could only eat... — Kirby Dec 11, 2007

Wow! This cake is pretty cool. It looks great to begin with, and it tastes delicious. I made this for a friend's celebration, and I really think it was enjoyed by all. Easy to make considering the outcome. Congrats on making up a fantastic... — Kirby Dec 10, 2007

Cranberry Bars

I am originally from Wisconsin, too. Perhaps that's why I loved these. I used fresh cranberries and chopped walnuts. These are delicious and simple. I took them to a party, and the disappeared. Thanks for the recipe. — Kirby Dec 3, 2007

Kosher Perfect Matzo Balls

(2 people found this helpful) Posted by Yosef Vernon

I have made this recipe, following it to a 'T', a couple of times, and they always turn out perfectly. For me, that means light and fluffy, like a cloud! Thanks for the posting it. I don't know why it works well, but it does. I think it has to... — Kirby Nov 30, 2007

Tip's Spanakopita (Spinach Pie)

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by 2Bleu (Bird&Buddha)

This tastes delicious. I left out the parsley and used one leek in lieu of the scallions, merely because this is what I had in the larder. The phyllo stays crispy on the bottom, and the cheese mixture is very good. Next time I'll use a little... — Kirby Nov 26, 2007

Fleur De Sel Caramels

First things first; these are delicious. I've been warned that candy making, for this is what this is, is not for the easily distracted. Which I am. Easily distracted. But for the sake of candy, I buckled down and watched carefully that... — Kirby Nov 20, 2007

Sambhar

I made this for lunch today, and my sixteen month old daughter ended up eating over half of the bowl I'd made for myself. I did skip the coconut, simply because I didn't have any. My veggies were pearl onions, carrots and spinach. I served it... — Kirby Nov 20, 2007

This sounded like the perfect thing to make for a cool fall weekend, especially since I've had a head cold all week. It's simple enough to make, even with peeling those messy beets! This was delicious, and it's helping me get back to health. I... — Kirby Nov 11, 2007

Apple Crisp II

I couldn't find my Mom's recipe for apple crisp, and I knew she wasn't home yet, so I couldn't call to get it from her. So, I found this one, and it's just as good! Perfect time of year for apple anything, and the oats and brown sugar go so well... — Kirby Nov 2, 2007

Chicken Parmigiana

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by sheila

For dietary reasons I made this using soy alternatives for cheese. I also used my homemade fresh tomato sauce in lieu of Ragu. But I needed the basics for construction. This isn't something I grew up with, but my husband loves it, and his food... — Kirby Oct 28, 2007

Roasted Red Pepper Soup

Posted by kitchengrrl

This was very good, and even with roasting my own peppers, very simple. I roasted the garlic with the peppers, which gives the garlic a creamy, sweet flavor perfect in soups. I also used water in lieu of vegetable or chicken broth. I just... — Kirby Sep 24, 2007
