Creamless Celery Potato Soup

Posted by qiltkitty

Quick & easy, but very watery for a 'cream' soup, and kind of bland. If I make it again, I'd either add some flour to the saute, or no water and less chicken broth. I added salt, which it needed desperately. Needs an herb peck-me-up, too --... — chakrates Oct 27, 2009

Green Bean Salad With Feta and Lemon

Posted by Ice Cool Kitty

I doubled the recipe — and then doubled the olive oil again, so 4T olive oil. I made a paste of the oil, feta, lemon zest & juice from 1/2 of 1 lemon, then added the beans and onion to that, so it coated the beans. Delicious — DH ate 1/3 of it... — chakrates Oct 12, 2009

Broccoli Alfredo Pasta

Posted by Kaarin

I added some sauteed mushrooms I had on hand, as well as some leftover roasted chicken. Very easy. Truly yummy! (But a little bland before I added those things, which is why only 4 stars, instead of 5.) — chakrates Oct 9, 2009

Easy Homemade Cream of Spinach Soup

Posted by Kaarin

This is fabulous! I used fresh spinach and homemade chicken stock instead of the water, and omitted the chicken bouillon. Also, I used a hand blender to make it an actual cream soup — the recipe never says to do this. — chakrates Sep 29, 2009

Italian White Bean and Spinach Soup

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Lorrie in Montreal

Very easy, very good, and I think it will be even better tomorrow. I used 2 cans pintos, because I had no white beans, 5 cups home made chicken stock and added a chopped carrot & 3 cloves of garlic. The lemon juice and thyme are very important;... — chakrates Jan 4, 2009

Mussels Fra Diavola

Posted by chia

Excellent! My picky stepson loved it, and DH, who hates mussels, at least loved the sauce. Really easy with a food processor to mince the garlic and chop the olives. Quick, too. — chakrates Dec 22, 2008

Cranberry Spinach Salad

Posted by Ed Paulhus

I added 1/4 C. blue cheese and 1/4 C toasted walnuts — amazing! Best salad I"ve had in a long time. There is enough dressing left over that it'll do for another salad. — chakrates Dec 21, 2008

Pork Schnitzel

Posted by mailbelle

So yummy — my guests all loved them, and each ate a HUGE chop. I used pork chops from Costco, the really thick kind, and couldn't pound them thin enough, so I had to finish them in the microwave. Next time, I'll slice those in half... — chakrates Dec 21, 2008

Cream of Broccoli Soup

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Stella Mae

I did use curry powder, sauteeing it with the onions. It's fairly light for a "cream" soup. My guests liked it, too. — chakrates Oct 28, 2006

Persimmon Pudding

(4 people found this helpful) Posted by Rhonda O

Wow! Tastes kind of like blondies. I'm not a huge fan of persimmons, but an acquaintance insisted i take 4 (unripe ones) from her organic tree. I waited and waited, and they're still not completely soft, but I made this pudding/cake anyway.... — chakrates Dec 9, 2005

Didn't have the scallions, forgot the chile, and it was still utterly delicious! And almost ridiculously easy if you have a food processor. — chakrates Jun 21, 2005

Persimmon Almond Pudding

By mistake, I made this without sugar. While it definitely needs sugar, it is oddly addictive without it. I didn't rate the recipe because I made it wrong! — chakrates Dec 8, 2004

Pork Tenderloin Smothered in Cabbage

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by shelbyrose

I used pork chops, which came out tough. I would make this again, with the pork tenderloin, but I'd slice the cabbage much thinner. I'd serve it over egg noodles to sop up the delicious sauce. — chakrates Nov 14, 2004

really yummy! myhusband likes them, too, though my son wasn't thrilled — too "real" for him. One time I left out the nutmeg, and they tasted really flat. — chakrates Nov 4, 2004
