Thai Style Fried Rice... With a Curry Flavor, Hmmm!!!

Posted by SquadLeader

I wanted a meatless fried rice to accompany BBQ Ribs, so I made this pretty much as written, but just left out the meat. I chopped up a Poblano (Anaheim) pepper to cook with the onions, and garnished the final dish with fresh Cilantro. Tasted great — Dug Jul 16, 2009

Delicious. Coquilles St Jacques

Posted by Heatherbelle2

This one needs more good reviews. I'm surprised that it is not at the top because it is a great traditional recipe. I used Vermouth instead of white wine, and added a couple of raw prawns to each ramekin. Also, I used more cream and no egg yolk.... — Dug May 19, 2009

Spaghetti Sauce

Very Good! My only changes were to skin the hot Italian sausage before cooking, and to add 1 tsp of ground fennel seeds which I feel gives it that authentic Italian taste. — Dug Mar 20, 2009

Shrimp Scampi With Pasta Alfredo

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Mercy

I omitted the pasta and incorporated the marinade and shrimp with 3/4 cup of butter. Then sauteed all until shrimp were cooked, divided into individual serving bowls, and sopped it up with slices of French bread (escargot style). Tasted great! — Dug Mar 9, 2009

Ukrainian Baba Mary's Halvah Cookies

Posted by Olga Drozd

I followed the directions exactly but the cookies started to get too brown on the bottom well before the time was up. They tasted pretty good except for the bottoms. I had some leftover dough so I added a bit of cinnamon and reduced the oven time.... — Dug Feb 22, 2009

Menudo (Tripe Soup)

(2 people found this helpful) Posted by Karen From Colorado

My favorite soup! I omit the tripe (sacrilege) because my wife says it feels like an old bathing cap. Followed the recipe as written, except substituted pork hocks for the veal knuckle. Worked just fine and tasted great. Cheers. — Dug Dec 31, 2008

Fresh Green Tomato Salsa

Posted by Dancer^

This tasted great, however, both times when I ate it I got severe stomach cramps within about 3 hours. I discovered on the internet that green tomatos eaten raw can be toxic and have that effect on some people. So, I now use the same recipe, only... — Dug Oct 11, 2008

All-Purpose Stir-Fry Sauce (Brown Garlic Sauce)

Excellent. I made a double batch as we do stir fry quite often. I cut back on the soya just a bit and used powdered ginger. I also added a pinch of five spice powder and a fresh chopped jalapeno for the kick. — Dug Sep 16, 2008

Very good! I used pinto beans and black beans, and cut back on the brown sugar as suggested. I also added a section of smoked pork ribs. These are probably the best I've ever tasted. — Dug Mar 30, 2008

Wonderful Salsa

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Jazze22

Outstanding - I added 1/2 cup of minced cilantro, and used poblano peppers (warm but mild) instead of sweet green peppers. I also cut the sugar to 1 tbsp as suggested by others. Result was TOO GOOD! Will freeze the rest, also suggested by others.... — Dug Sep 3, 2007
