Grandma's Sourdough Biscuits

Posted by pollen

I have to add a bit more flour, about 1/4 of a cup - I think my starter may be more liquid, plus we're at 3500 elevation. Otherwise my biscuits turn out a little flat... but the slight changes fixed that. We love these! They are our new Sunday... — TJ-Montana Nov 10, 2009

Oh my gosh, these are SO GOOD!! I've made several batches - LOOOOVE it with about 2 tbs minced garlic and 3/4 tsp sea salt, plus herbes de provence and evoo instead of butter. Another great option is Cajun Seasoning with the evoo... I make these... — TJ-Montana Oct 26, 2009

California Breakfast Bread

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by PaulaG

California is (or used to be?) the "land of milk and honey", thus the name! With all those fruits and nuts, it's a perfect name for a lovely bread. I used raisins AND dried cranberries, probably close to a cup total, and finely chopped walnuts.... — TJ-Montana Aug 26, 2009

Chokecherry Jelly

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Molly53

I've made about a dozen batches of this so far, and it's really excellent! A few differences - I started with chokecherry juice I'd already made and skipped to step 3. I also found from previous jelly-making experience that if you add 1/4 tsp of... — TJ-Montana Aug 19, 2009

Chokecherry Syrup

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Kaarin

Delicious!! With 8 gallons of chokecherry juice to use, I really appreciate a great recipe like this! I added 1/4 tsp real butter at step 3 from previous experience and it REALLY helps reduce the foam to almost nothing. Great recipe, thanks so... — TJ-Montana Aug 19, 2009

Basil-Walnut Pesto

Posted by dahlia

This is excellent! My 2 and 3 year old kids just GOBBLED it up on spiral pasta, served with sauteed chicken breast chunks (EVOO, sliced garlic, seasoning salt) on top. With that and sourdough bread and a green salad, it made a wonderful, healthy... — TJ-Montana Aug 19, 2009

Chickpeas With Spinach (Greek)

(2 people found this helpful) Posted by evelyn/athens

Delicious! I used a large green onion (diced) instead of the regular onions, sliced about 5 garlic cloves instead of 3 minced, used canned chickpeas and canned tomatoes because it's what I had on hand. Absolutely delicious recipe that even my "fry... — TJ-Montana Jul 12, 2009

Lavender Shortbread Cookies

Posted by *Alia*

"Lovely" is just the right description for these easy, delicious cookies! I used salted butter because it's what I had, and dried my tsp of mint (I had peppermint, rather than spearmint, in the garden) in the oven for 10 minutes or so - perfectly... — TJ-Montana Jul 10, 2009

This is a delicious dish! Even my "non veggie eating" DH really, REALLY liked it. I added a bit more garlic but otherwise cooked "as is". Thanks for a keeper!! — TJ-Montana Jul 4, 2009

Kinda Like Chick-Fil-A Sandwiches

Posted by babygirl65

Great recipe!! The chicken breast halves do great when, after halving, place between two sheets of wax paper, drizzle on some dill pickle juice, then flatten them in a tortilla press! Sort of forces in the pickle juice and hammers them down a bit... — TJ-Montana Jun 5, 2009

Homemade Breakfast Sausage

I made this omitting savory and fennel as well - I used my own garden thyme so of course didn't reduce the amount (that stuff is prolific! Have to use it up! grin) I also tripled the recipe because I used two pounds of ground venison with one... — TJ-Montana Jun 5, 2009

Southern Style Seasoned Green Beans (From Canned)

Yes, yes, yes! These are delicious! I add more garlic mainly because we are addicted to it, and some dehydrated chopped onion. I also drain the cans of green beans and then add back about a cup of chicken broth or bouillion - and then cancel the... — TJ-Montana May 21, 2009

Crock Pot Turkey Chili

Posted by mikekey

I realize that when the title is "Turkey Chili", one shouldn't try it with other meats... but we have ground venison and pork, so it morphed. Made it very close to recipe, except used a small can of tomato paste and then water to make up for the... — TJ-Montana May 13, 2009

Chicken Spaghetti

Posted by scootercrocker

Great stuff, family favorite! Cooking the spaghetti is step 1 for me, then while that's going I use about 2 tbs EVOO and cook a pound of boneless, skinless chicken breast since it's what we keep on hand. When the chicken is nearly done (not pink),... — TJ-Montana May 13, 2009

Pork and Vegetable Lo Mein (Easy and Delicious)

Yummy, filling, and nutritious! I used the celery instead of bok choy, and maybe a bit less cabbage - just took a moment to chop up half a head of red cabbage on the cutting board. Great way to use up leftover pork roast, and even my preschoolers... — TJ-Montana May 12, 2009
