Winter Minestrone - Giada De Laurentiis

Posted by Queen of my kitchen

This was alright. I added some tomato sauce to give it more tomato flavor, a bit more garlic, and fresh basil. — Chef #vt4me Oct 12, 2008

Borsch (((Authentic Ukrainian Classic Borsch)))

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Alan Leonetti

Sorry but this was terrible! Roasting the beets took alot longer than recipe states. Way too many herbs going on here. Drop the oregano. Add a tablespoon of sugar. Use celery not the seed. I will not be making this recipe again as I threw the soup... — Chef #vt4me Oct 5, 2008

Emra's Pineapple Chicken

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by LMillerRN

This is a pretty good recipe to start with. I used crushed pineapple so that might have affected the outcome. Other than that followed the recipe exactly. Maybe you might want to add garlic but the best pineapple chicken I've ever had didn't... — Chef #vt4me Sep 8, 2008

Prawn and Chicken Stuffed Calamari - Thai Style

Made this exactly as written except I used bread crumbs (which you could consider the coating and frying an optional step). Very easy to make and fantastic flavor!!! The sauce is teriffic also. — Chef #vt4me Jun 6, 2008

POLISH SOUR RYE SOUP (Zurek Polski)

Posted by LikeItLoveIt

I think everyone should try this soup. My Polish neighbors use kielbasa instead of bacon/smoked sausage, she also adds chopped eggs. I substituted half and half for sour cream as I wanted my soup a bit thinner. You can also consider mushrooms... — Chef #vt4me Apr 13, 2008

African-Spiced Broccoli-And-Cauliflower Salad

Posted by Manami

This is excellent! Be sure to roast whole cumin seeds then crush them. I use fresh ginger. However this should be eaten the same day it is made. As I discovered I left some in the fridge and it doesn't age well. — Chef #vt4me Jun 13, 2007

Tofu Jerky

(2 people found this helpful) Posted by Aunt Cookie

Found this a bit on the salty side. Otherwise it was very good. A bacon flavor. Didn't use as much liquid smoke. I froze the tofu first. Makes it firmer. — Chef #vt4me Jan 22, 2007

Tofu "Turkey" with Stuffing

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by ziggy

Yetch! Big dissappointment. Tasted more asian - sesame oil, miso, soy sauce! Ye Gads. I would recommend: marinate tofu 24 hours in chicken flavored veg broth, season with poultry seasoning, onion salt, garlic salt. For basting use some chicken... — Chef #vt4me Dec 29, 2006

Caesar Salad Dressing, Low Cal

(4 people found this helpful) Posted by katie in the UP

Excellent! However you might want to start with a bit less lemon juice and mustard and add to taste. Next time I will try it with soft tofu so it will be smoother. — Chef #vt4me Dec 23, 2006
