The Best Ever Waffles

Posted by *Elaine*

The flavor is great, but as some other reviewers noted, the batter is quite thin. We liked them better after adding more flour. — Southern Transplant Aug 11, 2009

Old-fashioned Linguine with White Clam Sauce

Posted by Maine-iac

My husband felt the spices overpowered the clams. He prefers my less spicy recipe. — Southern Transplant May 14, 2009

Gumbo by Paula Deen

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by MilanzMom

This is a delicious, rich-tasting gumbo! I made ours with organic beef broth in place of four bouillon cubes and water. The only thing I might do differently would be to add another 1/2 lb. of shrimp, but we thoroughly enjoyed this. — Southern Transplant May 28, 2008

Garden Pea Salad

Posted by Bobtail

I am not giving any stars because I made this for my in-laws with Paula Deen's recipe which calls for two cans of peas, but otherwise is the same. Everyone enjoyed it. — Southern Transplant May 27, 2008

Soup Kitchen's Beefy Black-eyed Pea Soup

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Danny Beason

Good soup. I used a quart of beef stock, which seemed about right. I took abloom69's suggestion and added some thyme. Thanks, Danny Beason! — Southern Transplant Dec 26, 2007

Oyster Stew Supreme

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Sherri Dodsworth

My husband said this was a nice change, but he prefers my blander version of oyster stew which I have been making for years. (Said he likes to taste the oysters, cream and butter.) Thanks for sharing, Sherri! — Southern Transplant Dec 14, 2007

Dave's Cajun Kielbasa

Posted by puppitypup

Four stars for speed, simplicity and taste. I used smoked sausage and didn't have peas, so I used some okra I had on hand. I personally would use more cajun seasoning next time. Thanks for sharing your husband's great recipe, puppitypup!! — Southern Transplant Dec 12, 2007

Thick & Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by tree luee dee

Good spaghetti sauce--definitely thick and meaty! I made it exactly as the recipe directed. As a personal preference, I think I would leave out the marjoram next time. Thanks, tree luee dee! — Southern Transplant Dec 12, 2007

Crock Pot Chicken Cacciatore

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Tish

Very tasty. I used red cooking wine. Like another reviewer, I think some sliced black olives would be a good addition. Thanks, Tish! — Southern Transplant Oct 25, 2007
