Mom's Apple Tart

(3 people found this helpful) Posted by Helen1

Hi Hellen! I was really impressed with this recipe. I used the little slicer on the the side of my square cheese grater to cut up the apples in very tiny slices. I did not press any of the juice out. Turned out awesome! It was a great way to... — 68Ranchero Jan 20, 2007

Peanut Butter Frosting

This was absolutely delicious! I added extra milk and then beat it with my mixer to make it extra fluffy. Then I used it as the filling (instead of the normal whip cream) for a chocolate roll cake! Yummmm. — 68Ranchero May 12, 2003

Rhubarb Crunch

Delicious! I gave this one five stars because it was soooo easy and soooo good. Just a note though--when cooking the sause, it did not thicken in the pot, however, it did thicken while baking. — 68Ranchero Jun 20, 2002

Lemon Vermicelli

This did not have too bad of a taste, however, I'm not real big on mixing a citric juice with milk because it will curdle. I am not a milk lover, and so the thought of curdled milk is not good to me. — 68Ranchero Jun 17, 2002

Old Fashioned Coconut Oatmeal Cookies

These were very good. However, will burn very easily so be sure to watch the first batch as the time may not be correct for your sea level! — 68Ranchero Apr 27, 2002

Palmiers

These were just too simple. They were very good, however I did not have any caster sugar so I just used regular white sugar and it worked quite well except that I would sprinkle much more freely next time as I like my sweets. — 68Ranchero Apr 27, 2002

Done In A Snap Oatmeal cookies

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by 1Steve

I just tried these and found that they would not stick together in a ball at all. Just dry crumbs. I had to add two cups flour, 3 eggs, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp soda. It must depend on the brand of oatmeal used to make this recipe work! — 68Ranchero Apr 22, 2002

Jailhouse Doughnuts

These were really good and easy to make. My son and his friend thought they were great! I made them using homemade whole wheat bread and homemade blueberry jelly. Yummmm. Also, because I hate to waste anything, I took the pieces of crust... — 68Ranchero Apr 17, 2002

Scottish Toast

This was a tasty recipe, my son loved them. Extremely filling. I found that you must be very sure to cook them slowly over low heat or the oats will burn giving unpleasant taste. Tasted great with maple syrup poured over top. — 68Ranchero Apr 17, 2002

Salisbury Steak With Mushroom and Onion Gravy

(4 people found this helpful) Posted by Virginia Chandler

This really was a tasty recipe. My husband is definately a meat and potatoes kind-a-guy, and he went back for seconds. However, I substituted 1/2 cup of "cream of mushroom soup" for the cream. Served with mashed potatoes and a tossed salad, it... — 68Ranchero Apr 17, 2002
