I soaked the beans for approx 12 hours changing water occasionally (means less gas!)I omitted the rice but added a tin of chunky chopped tomatoes, didn't have any tomato paste so used tomato sauce to personal taste and two tablespoons of balsamic... — Chef #240405 Sep 9, 2005
