Turkey Pan Gravy

Posted by *Parsley*

Best. Gravy. Ever. I mixed all the ingredients except the drippings with a bit of cold stock so it was ready to go when I took the turkey out of the oven. I poured it directly into the roasting pan and cooked on the stovetop for about 5 - 10... — Gingernut Nov 22, 2009

Fresh Strawberry Cake

Posted by Kim D.

I made this and iced with white chocolate ganache on top and a strawberry cream cheese icing on top. I put fresh strawberries and cream between the layers. Made a wonderful birthday cake, perhaps the best ever! — Gingernut Oct 7, 2009

Smoked Salmon Scramble

Posted by Miss Annie

Made a single serve of this using Greek yoghurt drained overnight instead of cream cheese. Rolled it in a tortilla. A very good and easy gourmet breakfast. — Gingernut Oct 5, 2009

Spinach/Strawberry Salad

Posted by William (Uncle Bill) Anatooskin

Lovely topped with sliced barbecued chicken breasts. The dressing isn't sickly sweet like a lot of spinach salad dressings. It's more like a standard balsamic vinaigrette. I didn't have any nuts but usually like toasted slivered almonds in mine. — Gingernut Jan 14, 2009

Buttermilk Apple Muffins

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by M&Mers

I made these with greek yoghurt instead of buttermilk, reducing the sugar and replacing about half the flour with a mix of wholemeal flour, oats, and oat bran. I made them in a mini muffin tin. They were delicious. Thanks for posting! — Gingernut Oct 3, 2008

Tasty Oatmeal the Microwave Way!

This method works great for me. I usually stir in a bit of powdered milk at the end to make it creamy. — Gingernut Sep 29, 2008

Crock Pot Sticky Chicken

Oddly, I could almost quote The Amaze-ing Me's review ... my DH loved it too but I was just slightly disappointed in the intensity of the flavour. I kicked the sauce up a notch by adding more honey and soy sauce and a fair bit of salt (I used low... — Gingernut Sep 14, 2008

Crock Pot Mexican Turkey

Posted by Geema

Good use for some turkey drumsticks I found on special. We had it one night as burritos/tacos, and another night as a filling for an enchilada/mexican lasagna. I liked it better in the lasagna, it worked well with lots of cheese! Thanks for... — Gingernut Aug 13, 2008

Nice easy side dish. I used regular onion and also added garlic. Left out the jalapeno and used the cilantro (coriander) that comes in a tube ... — Gingernut Aug 9, 2008

Chinese Crock Pot Chicken

Not bad, but probably won't make it again. Was very easy but was expecting a bit more pizazz. Might try it with boneless thighs sometime. — Gingernut Jul 6, 2008

Disneyland Snickerdoodles

Posted by IamEarnie

Very good. I used spreadable butter and actually had to replace some of the flour with wholemeal because I ran out of plain. But they were still great. I halved the recipe with no problems and made 16 big cookies, so had to cook them for about 15... — Gingernut Jul 6, 2008

Spinach and Bacon Strata

My Christmas houseguests were very happy with our delicious breakfast, and I was stoked that it was make-ahead. 4 adults ate this for breakfast 2 days in a row, plus there was a little leftover for my little girl to have for lunch (twice). I would... — Gingernut Jun 22, 2008

Cha-ching! Carrot Spice Muffins

Yum yum ... I replaced some of the flour with oats. These were better cold than warm. Kids and brunch guests loved them. Will make again. Thanks, Roosie. — Gingernut Jun 22, 2008

Lox and a Schmear, Emeril-Style

Same as SAMS, I am rating the shmear served with lox, bagels, and red onions. Really delicious and easier than trying to serve capers as a separate condiment. Gingernut Jun 22, 2008

I'm really just rating the dressing ... I LOOOOOOOVE it. I just make the sandwich with sauerkraut, cheese, and corned beef, butter on the outside of the bread, and stick it in the health grill/sandwich press ... dressing on the side for dipping... — Gingernut Jun 22, 2008

Vegetarian "meatballs"

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Kathleen McDonald

These are kind of scary/magical ... I would be careful making them for a real veggie because they might refuse to eat them (seriously). I made these for a friend with a new baby who is a vegetarian with a meat-loving family. Great texture. I... — Gingernut Jun 3, 2008
