Beef in Red Wine

Posted by Tulip-Fairy

Tastes fresh and rich at the same time. I found it helpful to wear an apron while cooking this, because many of the ingredients are prone to spatter and stain. — Nose Aug 13, 2008

This is a classic. Good for dinner or lunch as well as brunch. — Nose Jul 16, 2008

Lemonade Syrup

Posted by JenSmith

This is a great idea, and it makes better lemonade than I have ever bought! A lot of room in my fridge is taken up by my water filtering contraption. This way I can have cold water and cold homemade lemonade without filling the whole refrigerator.... — Nose Jul 7, 2008

Brownies for One [or Two, if You're Feeling Generous]

Posted by Megannnnnnnn

I got 4 servings from this. It seemed like there was a lot of egg in proportion to the rest of the ingredients. It tasted like standard homemade brownie, though. — Nose Jul 6, 2008

Ramen Korean-style

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Andy Wold

Added some substance and nutrition to simple ramen noodles. This would be really good on a cold day. I had fresh ramen noodles bought at a Korean supermarket. I made my own soup base with instant dashi broth powder, soy sauce, mirin, black pepper,... — Nose Apr 6, 2008

Thai Stir Fried Wide Rice Noodles, "Pad Si-iew"

Posted by Dancer^

This was good. The noodles didn't quite brown the way they do at my favorite restaurants. I would have liked it spicier. I didn't add the coconut milk at the end, but it says that is optional. Nice rich flavor, though. — Nose Mar 17, 2008

Spicy Thai Cucumber Salad

Delicious with chicken satay (Chicken Satay). Easy to make. I used rice vinegar. — Nose Mar 17, 2008

Chicken Satay

Posted by ~Rita~

Made this for a dinner party and everyone loved it. The store where I shopped was out of bamboo skewers, so I made larger chunks of chicken and cooked them longer on the broiler pan. Still delicious. — Nose Mar 17, 2008

Maple-Marinated Tempeh

Posted by Raspberrytart

The marinade is like a barbecue sauce, and the amount of oil gives it a richness. I ate this with brown rice and steamed green beans. It was a vegan dinner that felt like a stick-to-your-ribs, meat-and-potatoes American meal. — Nose Mar 8, 2008

Sweet Potato & Black Bean Filling Quick and Very Tasty

Posted by Somogirl

Enjoyed with brown rice, hot sauce, and yogurt. It made me sleepy, but that was a good thing. I didn't have taco seasoning, so I made my own blend of spices. — Nose Mar 8, 2008

Prawns (Shrimp) in Tamarind Sauce

Posted by Latchy

Light, yet rich and mellow. I used Vietnamese fish sauce, and I think it would have been bolder with a Thai brand. Also, I used chili-garlic sauce instead of fresh chilies and garlic. I'd like to try it again with the fresh stuff and possibly with... — Nose Jan 14, 2008

Whole Wheat French Bread

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Marg (CaymanDesigns)

This is so simple - it tastes purely of wheat, especially good whole wheat. Mine turned out tasty, but perhaps could have been more tender. I have made bread before, but am still getting the hang of it. Was my water the right temperature? Should... — Nose Jan 6, 2008

Dad's Hot Buttered Rum by the Mug

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by wyojess

The honey made this complex, and was so good with the butter. This is super potent! I guess any hot buttered rum recipe is. — Nose Dec 30, 2007

Ginger Beef

Posted by mianbao

Simple but complex and rich. Tenderloin is much softer than the beef I usually stir-fry; it was almost melty. I didn't marinate as long as it says, but it was still good. — Nose May 23, 2007

Skillet Blueberry Cobbler

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by Velouria

The cast iron skillet was rustic and cool. All that butter with the juicy berries was almost sickeningly rich, and meanwhile the biscuit was dry. Next time I'll use a recipe that calls for putting the butter into the batter. — Nose Apr 8, 2007

Easy Chocolate Chip Cake

Posted by SJG3483

This has a flavor like a fluffy, gooey chocolate chip cookie, particularly as it doesn't contain milk like most cakes do. It would be good with vanilla ice cream. I have seen variations that also call for adding dates. Now that I've tried this... — Nose Mar 30, 2007

White Beans in Coconut Milk

Posted by stormylee

Pretty golden color, satisfyingly creamy, simple, and budget-friendly. I think this would be really good with cooked bitter greens, like spinach, kale, or collards. I wish I had had some to go with it. — Nose Jan 3, 2007

Garam Masala

(1 person found this helpful) Posted by NcMysteryShopper

Worked well, and so nice to have a fresh spice blend! I didn't have a dry skillet, so I roasted the spices in my toaster oven. It did take a bit more than 5 minutes because of waiting for the spices to cool. — Nose Dec 30, 2006
