This is great - fit the bill especially since it's been snowing for an eternity and I needed something warm and comforting. Just like my mom used to make! It's important to add enough salt and pepper, otherwise this can taste really bland. Exactly what I was wanting.

I gave this 5 stars. I make a sausage gravy recipe just like this. My family loves this over biscuits. I use Jimmy Deans sausage or bulk breakfast sausage from the meat market. Thanks for posting a great recipe! Christine (internetnut)

This is the way my hubby's great aunt taught me to make it. My husband and son love it. I never measure, but your amounts sound about right. I just add flour until all the grease is absorbed. If I am making sausage gravy, I serve it over Yeast Biscuits. But if I make hamburger gravy, I serve it over Oat Biscuits. Both ways are delicious!

This gravy was very good-I used 1/4 pound Jimmy Deans hot sausage and 3/4 sage flavor-also used half and half and milk. Had a very good flavor. Thanks cj2 for sharing this!!

With sausage, I serve this over biscuits for breakfast. With hamburger, we always called it SOS and served it over bread for supper. Either way it's good and the perfect way to make what we always called milk gravy.

Must be a midwestern thing too, I'm from Iowa and my mother has made this for as long as I can remember. Great on biscuits or bread like a reviewer said above!

A real Southern breakfast staple! Served over homemade buscuits and accompanied with fresh, chilled and sliced tomatoes it makes a wonderful breakfast! Thanks for posting this great recipe.

Very good recipe. Easy and fast. I did use hot sausage and did not find the color to be unappealing at all. My husband really liked it too! Thanks for the recipe!

We called this comfort food - my daughters called it heaven food. Thanks for reminding me how to do it.
