I would like to give you more stars, but my hands are tied
. This was great. I have always wanted to make an apple pie from scratch, but have been to lazy and perhaps a little apprehensive about making my own pie crust...Well this solved my problem. I made this and the aroma was wonderful. I baked it for about 1 hour(my oven's fault)This wasnt only just easy, It was delicious. The next time, I think I will substitute brown sugar for the regular sugar in the apple mixture. I added vanilla, which enhanced the already yummy taste. I also think the next time I will put the crust in the oven for maybe 10 or 15 minutes to brown a bit and then add the rest. I ate this warm (I couldnt wait for it to cool) with ice cream. The title says it all..Almost apple pie. Thanks for this delicious recipe!!

Your preamble tells it all - quick, easy & the base tastes just like pastry! I added a wee dash of nutmeg to the apples & will probably use some brown sugar in the crumb topping next time - and there will definitely be a next time. Thanx Gerry!

An easy and attractive apple crumble. I will use some brown sugar in the crumble next time and much less sugar in the apples. Perhaps if I had used those tart granny smith apples, it would have been just right. I replaced 1/4 cup of flour in the crumble, with oats. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed this "almost" pie! It was tasty. I doubled the crust and apples and put it into a 13x9 inch dish and it came out perfect!

This was great. I would give it 6 stars for easiness, taste & appearance. I used 1/2 brown sugar in the crust. Thank you for the recipe.

This recipe is great because I am not good at making pie crust. My husband and daughter loved it. I will definitely make this again.

GREAT apple pie. I used a tin pie plate that was left over from Mrs. Smith's bland apple pie and used 1 tablespoon cornstarch instead of 2 of flour. The simplicity of this doesn't take away from the amazing taste. Yay and yum

Unbelievable! This is the LAZY MAN's (or WOMAN'S) way to make a delicious, no-fail apple pie.
I thought this seemed too simple to be so good, but I tried it and all the other ratings have been correct. This is a 5-star, must have recipe!
This tastes EXACTLY like delicious homemade apple pie and is incredibly simple to make. I took it to a card party, and everyone wanted the recipe. I plan on trying this crumb/pie pastry mixture with other fillings such as blueberry or pecan.
Yum!
(P.S. Served with a dollop of whipped cream, which was perfect.)

*WOW*!!! This is fantastic! I took this to a dinner party and it won a ton of compliments. I used 2 Golden Delicious and 2 Granny Smith apples, one teaspoon Apple Pie Spice rather than plain cinnamon and also used 1/4 cup brown sugar with 1/4 cup white sugar in the apple mixture. Topped with whipped topping or ice cream, this is pure heaven! Thanks so much, Gerry!
