Wow, I am glad I found this oldie and goodie. I always loved to add a can of apple pie filling to the mix and left the topping as is. Yummy! This was good all over again!

I increased the cinammon to 1/2 tsp, based on other reviews. I also added a can of apple pie filling to the dough mixture, and stirred minimally, just to mix a bit. What a hit! Moist, light, and very yummy. Easy, too! Thanks!

This is one of my favorite recipes as well. Try adding some fresh fruit to the dough. Delicious

Very tasty. I used low-fat Bisquick & the water option; I also added about 1/4 tsp almond extract to the batter. I wanted to add some chopped pecans to the topping but didn't have any! I think nuts would be a great addition, and this is versatile so you could add chopped apples or pears to the batter too. A great easy recipe that's nice enough for weekend guests (which I did have this wknd
) Thanks.

This is a great recipe if modified. If you aren't afraid of butter this is what I do. Keep the cake portion the same but as to the topping portion this is how I modified it. 1 cup Bisquick 1-1/2 cups of Brown sugar 1 Sstick to stick in a half of butter melted 1 tablespoon of cinnamon Mix all together till makes a doughy consistancy Portion it out in heaping tablespoons and push down into the coffee cake Add some chopped pecans or walnuts on top and bake as directed The brown sugar will sink into the coffee cake. Very yummy. I have to now make 12 at Christmas time for all the neighbors. Decadent and sinfully rich.

I made this for breakfast for my family and my son's friend who had slept over. Maybe unusual for a breakfast but it's not high in fat or over the top in calories. I served it with a fruit salad I made with frozen blueberries, canned mango slices, canned peach slices and an individual sized non-fat blueberry yogurt. It went together very quickly and was eaten even more quickly. Great recipe!

This is my favorite coffee cake recipe too! The topping is incredible and the taste of this cake is fantastic. We have a playgroup that meets at our house once a month. Mom's and kids alike expect me to have this as one of our snacks! They all love it!

Thanks for posting! I was so disappointed tonight when I checked out the bisquick box and found that this recipe wasn't there. I remember making it a lot growing up. We often swirled a little jam into the top of the cake, before putting the topping on. Yummy!
