Excellent biscuits Marg! I can't say enough about these, they were light and fluffy, and oh so delicious! one of the better recipes for biscuits, and I have tryed many LOL! I baked the first batch, and they turned out so good I decided to made another, and stuck them in the freezer. I used 2 HEAPING teaspoons for the baking powder and 1/2 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese instead of the 1/4 cup that the recipe called for. I will be making these again very soon. Thanks so much Marg for sharing such a wonderful recipe!...Kittencal

Oh wow!!! these are incredable, didn't have any cream of tarter so I added an extra teaspoon of baking powder and just a pinch of soda. I followed the lead and used 1/2 cup of sharp cheddar and had some herbed feta I needed to us up, so ended up with about 3/4 cup of cheese total! the taste was just outstanding; they were tender and a little crisp on the outside, from the cheese and soft and fluffy inside. DH said they tasted from heaven. Thanks for sharing this special recipe, we will be making them again and again.

All we can say is HOLY COW. These are rich, tasty, tender, and EXACTLY like Red Lobsters. We doubled the recipe because my DS was home.. a doubled recipe fed 6 of us to the stuffed point and caused the soup to be pretty much ignored. EVERYONE loved these.

These were good. Only thing is I think it calls for to much sugar. Ours were a bit on the sweet side. Other than that they were delicious. Next time I will cut the sugar down a bit. Thanks for sharing!

I'm sitting here eating my 3rd now!! Delicious. I followed Kittencals idea and used a lot more cheese as I love cheese in biscuits. I hate having to roll out and cut biscuits so this was great. Thanks for a great recipe.I'm on my 4th now. This my lunch.

Very soft, light and plenty of cheesy garlic taste! Easy to make. I was glad to find this recipe because I wanted a garlic cheese biscuit recipe without the bisquick! This recipe made five, 3 to 4 inch sized biscuits, so the next time I will double the recipe to make more.

OH my gosh, Marg...these were absolutely fantastic!! I really like the fact that they're an alternative to the Bisquick kind, since I don't keep Bisquick on hand. Also, I LOVE the fact that they're not the kind you have to roll out - SO simple and so so so yummy! The recipe made 6, which I thought would be lots for the two of us, but we scarfed them all down & I wished I'd made more!
They were light, moist and cheesy (I added more cheese than the recipe called for - probably about 3/4 c). I'll definitely be making these again & again.

These are fantastic. I brought them to a friend's place last night and they were devoured. I had no cream of tartar so I substituted about 3/4 tsp of lemon juice. Next time I will add more cheese.

Hey...these were great! After the first batch came out of the oven, they tasted so good I started on another batch. I found I only had half the amount of shortning I needed so for the other half I used butter. They turned out great for me! What an easy recipe! I like that you don't have to roll them out.

I loved these! I made them with monterary jack cheese instead of cheddar as that's what I had in the house and they were great! I cut a little bit back on the sugar as someone suggested and they were great. Thanks!!
