47 Reviews of Banana Nut Bread for the Bread Machine

From: NancyLeeIL

On Dec 2, 2005

Yum, yum, yum, yum! On my bread machine (William-Sonoma) I used the "quick bread" cycle. I also have to set what size bread (1-2pounds) so I did 1 1/2 lb and it came out fine. I've made this twice, once I had sour cream the other I didn't and used vanilla yogurt and it came out great both times. Figure 2-3 bananas if you don't want to "measure". The only "tweaking" I might try the next time would be to add a smidge of cinnamon (but thats' me). This is one of those STAPLES in your cookbook. Somehow there always seems to be leftover bananas. If you don't have two or three bananas at one time. Mash and freeze in a ziplock what you have and when you get another leftover banana or two, just defrost what's in the freezer and add the ones you now have. Another hint is when you measure the dry ingredients (flour sugar, baking soda, powder) measure an extra "set" and keep in a ziplock labelled "banana bread" and when you get those leftover bananas, just put the wet ingredients in your pan (I add the bananas at the start with the wet), then just grab your little baggie with the already measured ingredients and you'll have "time saved". Thanks again. I love when I know I've found "MY RECIPE" for something and the search is OVER!

This banana loaf was just so wonderful! I am so pleased with the taste and texture that this recipe produced. I made as directed. on my Zojurushi Home Baker bread machine (on the cake cycle of coarse!) only I omitted the chocolate chips, since this was the first time making this recipe, as I wanted to see how this turned out I did however add in the bananas along with all of the other ingredients, I didn't wait the 5 minutes as stated, I used 2 medium-size bananas, and this worked out just fine. Thanks so much for posting, I will make this again in my bread machine...great recipe!...Kittencal

I made this today in my new Breadman Ultimate (3rd recipe using this machine). This is a wonderful recipe. It was delicious! Between my husband and myself, There is only a small piece left..we ate practically the whole thing in one sitting. I made it with chocolate chips. I will definitely make this bread again. In fact I am thinking either blueberry-banana or strawberry- banana Thank you for sharing this great recipe.

My breadmaker does not have a "Cake" setting but the" Quick Bread" setting worked perfectly. I missed that I needed sour cream and didn't have any in the fridge, so I used 1/3 cup banana/strawberry yogurt and it worked great. The aroma filled the house and drove my DH crazy until he could have it piece. He rarely says he likes anything but he loved this!

Great bread - and I like the reduction in oils / sugar because of more banana! It's bread machine proof! I made a 1/2 batch because that's all of the banana's I had and it turned out great using the 'quick bread - cake' cycle!

I made a few changes. I used 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/3 cup regular sugar. Also I didn't have extra large eggs, instead of 2 extra large I used 3 medium eggs. Another thing I added was a few dashes of cinnamon, and instead of one teaspoon of vanilla I used 1/2 tea. rum extract and 1/2 tea. vanilla extract. My breadmaker book says to add liquid ingredients first and then the dry ingredients, so that how I did it. My breadmaker doesn't beep on the "quick bread/cake" cycle so I just added the banana and nuts after about 5 minutes. I did have to use a rubber scapper to make sure the flour was mixed well. My breadmaker is a toastmaster brand and the banana nut bread came out prefect. I am not a banana fan, I made it for my family , but even I liked it. The bread smelled so good while it was cooking.

Oh my this was wonderful. My first loaf I thought that more banana was better but that is not the case LOL it was too gooey in the center but the next loaf I followed the directions and it was great. I then altered the recipe to make Apple Bread and instead of the oil I used applesauce and 2/3s cup of shredded apple with the walnuts. YUMMY for both!

This is great. The cake setting for my bread machine took 2 hours from start to finish. It was easy, tasted great and everyone loved it. It is in my cookbook, thanks for posting.

This banana bread recipe is great! I actually mixed all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and added to the bread machine pan and used the bake cycle. I don't have the cake function on my bread machine. Thanks!

I've made this today, cos is my boyfriend's birthday and he loves cakes so i was looking for a recipe of a cake that i could make in the breadmachine and i got into this one and i made it with little pieces of chocolate bar because that is what i had home, but I also add 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the dry mixture so it turned into a chocolate-banana-chocolate chips bread-cake and is wonderful, the flavor, the texture, the smell...and served with some whipped cream, yummie! I am not such a fan of cakes, i prefer something salty, but this was really great recipe. Thanks a lot for sharing it and is already saved in my cookbook for another ocassion Greetings, Ollin
