This is one of those combinations I wish I did not know existed. Denise told me about it and I made it Saturday. In one 20 minute span, I ate (just me) 3/4 of a pound of ziti, half a stick of unsalted butter, and almost the entire large size can of crushed tomatoes. I also sprinkled a bit of seasoned salt over the top. I couldn't stop - who knew that butter & tomatoes belonged together???? YUM!

Doesn't get much more simple than this. Tastes great, too! Due to pantry limitations, I ended up using diced tomatoes (Italian) in lieu of crushed and added a little garlic powder. Simmered butter and sauce together for a bit before adding to whole grain fettuccine and topped with Parmesan cheese. Everyone in the family loved it (teenager and preschooler, included). Perfect for busy, week night dinners! Thanks for sharing!

This is such good stuff. I like it with meatloaf or it will make a great lunch all by itself. I'm thinking that some cheddar cheese would be good too even though it's just about perfect as is. Thanks for posting, Denise.

I used egg noodles, and petite diced tomatoes, as that is all I had. Used a little more butter, as I used more noodles. Added a dash of fresh ground pepper, and some salt. YUM!!! This is so much better than it would seem!! My 8 year old pasta fanatic loved it! So easy, so good!! What a keeper. Served as a side for meatball subs for a quick easy weeknight dinner, with a side of brocolli!!!! Thanks.

Wow! Desperate for something quick and easy to cook the family, this went down a treat. Added 1/2 a teaspoon of minced garlic to the melted butter and used some leftover linguine from the night before. Added some low fat grated cheese after the tomatoes. Can see myself adding some cooked chicken to the pot next time. Thanks for such a tasty recipe!

Loved this!! Simple, fast, and delicious! I had whole tomatoes so I chopped in my blender and used plenty of black pepper. Leftovers were just as yummy. Thank you Denise for sharing this recipe!

Funny....my grandmother made this too
I'm going to make it tonight...only instead of butter a tablespoon or so of olive oil. I would also suggest cooling the pasta under cold tap water after it's cooked....for a cold tomato pasta effect.
I would say this is a very easy recipie and should be a staple in my kitchen.

I love this and can also eat alot of it all by myself!!! My great-aunt Ruby (best cook in the world) used to make this with a pinch of sugar and bacon grease in place of the butter. Made either way it is delicious!!

I used Italian diced tomatoes. Used a chopper and it pretty much crushed them like a blender would. I used less butter and added some olive oil. This is way easy. I make something like this too. You know when your 5 yo opens a can of tomatoes and you don't know what to do with them...you go to Recipezaar.com to find a recipe. LOL...
