89 Reviews of The Original Rice Krispies Treats Squares

OH soooo Good! Made these tonight to put in lunches tomorrow. One tip to make this easier is to spray your spoon or spatula with non-stick cooking spray to keep the mixture from sticking. I finally just sprayed my hands with the spray and pressed the mixture into the pan. Thanks Bec for posting this childhood favorite.

I have made these treats of a long time. One time even made these for a BBQ for 200+ people. Melt the marshmallows & butter in the mic and it really goes much faster.

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I haven't made these in awhile now and so glad I came across the recipe. I split the mixture in half and added milk chocolate chips to one half and just had plain on the other half in the pan. Nice treat to have on hand when you need something sweet. Thanks so much!

My kids have loved these since they were itty-bitty. Haven't made them in years but decided to surprise them. They turned out just like I remember. Gooey and chewy. The kids were thrilled. Thanks for bringing this recipe back into our lives.

This was yummy. I think I may use more marshmallows next time (I used the mini's) since they weren't very gooey. But good!

Actually, the "Original" recipe used 4 tablespoons of butter. I use 5 tablespoons and I only use real butter. It makes a big difference.

How can you go wrong with a Rice Krispies treat? I did make a few changes to the recipe that was pretty happy with. When melting the butter/marshmallows I added in about a teaspoon of vanilla, then after melting the marshmallows and mixing in the Rice Krispies I added in more marshmallows (probably about 1/2 to 3/4 cup) so that there were large chunks of marshmallows throughout. I got lots of compliments about the treats being so soft instead of like bricks so I think I will probably make those changes again next time!

My childhood favorite! My mom made these all the time for holidays, and sometimes just for fun. They come out perfect every time, and they are 100 times better than the store bought rice crispy treats! Thanks for posting!

I knew them but never made them before. I used chocolat rice krispies and they turned out great. Or to say it with my sons words:"Gabriel likes it."- "No, Raphy like it better." There you have it right from the youngest zaar critics. They prefer it to chocolate now. Thanks for charing (btw Gabriel usually doesn't go near rice krispies, avoids it even in chocolate)

Great to see an old recipe revived - my mum used to make these for us when we were kids. She used toffee as well as marshmallows so for those seeking a more gooey and chewy experience, try adding the toffee in - it never fails to impress in our house!
