I made this tonight for my daughter who requested baked ziti like a friend's mom had made! I added 3/4 pound ground beef to the sauce, and pretty much followed the rest of the recipe. Turned out great! Thanks for sharing. I would not have done step 2 exactly like that, so I am glad to have found that - it really made a difference! Creamy, cheesy and not dry! Thanks!!!!!

Wonderful! I followed the recipe as stated but added a tiny bit more mozzarella cheese both on top and when mixing with the ricotta (since we love cheese). I made this in two smaller pans so I could give my son one to take home! His comment was "Mom, that was awesome!" I reduced the baking time to approximately 25 minutes to compensate for using smaller pans.
Thanks, Bev, for another wonderful recipe which has replaced my "regular" baked ziti recipe!

Excellent. When I've made baked ziti in the past I haven't done step 2. I think that really makes a difference. Will be making this again! Thanks.

Delicious! I agree that mixing instead of layering worked really well. After adding a lb. of hot sausage, I put in another cup of sauce because the meat made it a lot thicker and I'm sure it would have been too dry without more. Otherwise followed recipe exactly. With the extra volume, the dish almost overflowed and lots of cheese topping stuck to the foil. Next time, I'll know to divide it between 2 casseroles. Unless you're feeding an army, it's best to freeze half of it anyway. Great dinner, Bev. Thanks!

Perfect baked ziti recipe! Very similar to what I normally do, but I never measure and therefore, my ziti is never the same. Now, I'll follow your recipe each time. Also, ziti was always one of those things I did at the last minute and used jarred sauce. This time, I had leftover homemade sauce and boy, what a difference! Thanks for posting this, Bev...it made me and my family realize that baked ziti could taste like a Sunday dinner instead of a quickie weekday meal! P.S. I used Barilla Penne instead of ziti and Italian Blend cheese instead of all mozzarella.

This was wonderful!! I made this for my family and my neighbors family after she had surgery. I made 2 9X13 pans she has a family of 7 and still had 1/2 a casserole to feed as leftovers. I added a bit more garlic. This was great!! Thanks Bev Karen

Tastes like my mother's pain in the neck to make stuffed shells, but super easy and fast to do. I made half a recipe, perfect for a square pan. Really a keeper!

the whole family loved it. I served it with Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits cheddar bay biscuits. Next time I will add a little more spaghetti sauce, so that the leftovers will not be dry.

I'm part Italian and have been seeking, for years, a good baked ziti. This is it! Loved it, Bev, and it was a big hit with my family!

This was so easy to put together, and I had all the ingredients on hand except the ziti, lol. Worked just fine with penne pasta. I made two batches, we devoured one and froze the other. Great taste, ease of preparation, thanks for sharing Bev! Crabby
