I made this Apple Butter some time ago and apparently forgot to write a review. This is a delicious apple butter made it using splenda instead of sugar. I canned it instead of freezing it because of lack of space in freezer. I did a hot pack method, water bath for 10 minutes. This worked very good for me. Thank you for posting the recipe!

Apple butter is so expensive that I never buy it, but from now on I won't have to because I can make my own! My neighbour gave my two bags of apples from their tree and i knew that this recipe would be a perfect way to use them up. I used 27 small apples and they filled my crockpot 3/4 full. They cooked for 8 hours on high. I did blend the cooled mixture in the blender for a smoother texture. This was perfect to serve on the apple scones that imade Apple Cheddar Scones

Yummy, this turned out as good as it sounded! The only change I made was to cook uncovered another hour as it seemed too loose. Firned up after being in fridge overnite. Taste is just wonderful! Will be making this more often. This is a keeper.

Yum! This is delicious and so easy to make! I actually halved it, but next time I'll make the full amount and freeze it. I am enjoying it right now spread on some plain brown rice cakes, and a little goes a long way; this is super-flavorful, with just the right amount of spices. The cooking time in the crockpot was spot-on, too, and the directions were great. Thanks so much!

5 stars for how easy this was. 5 stars for how it tastes! i used 3 kinds of apples - granny smith, macs and courtlands. (i used 22 apples total and filled the crockpot 3/4 fulls.) i thought it was going to be really sweet and was pleasantly surprised at how nice and refreshing this tastes. not too sweet at all! i also really liked the flavour of it. very much like apple pie! yummmmmy! i made the mistake of starting later in the day and so i cooked it all one day and then at night i put it in a cool place and then plugged it back in for the next day. i actually cooked it for about 20 hours and it became really thick. i am really happy with the results and will be making again!! thanks soo much!

Good basic recipe, but to much sugar for me. Think it only needs 2 cups sugar and definitely add some allspice.

This is delicious! I canned this in a water bath for 15 minutes to be safe. My entire family loves apple butter, so I'm giving a bunch away for the holidays. This tastes just as good as the expensive stuff I used to buy from a nearby apple farm. I think the sugar/spice amount is perfect. (My apples weighed 5 1/2 pounds before peeling and coring.) I chopped the apples very finely in the food processor, and after 12 hours in the crock pot I didn't have to blend any further - it was already a nice smooth texture. This is definately going on my list to make every year. Thanks for a great recipe!

This is so easy. Another Crock Pot winner--no standing over the stove or worrying about burning. I cored my organic apples but did not peel and simply put the finished product through the China cap to separate the skins. I made a 1/3 recipe of this and it turned out really well. It ended up cooking about 13 hours on low and I didn't bother to cook the last hour with the lid removed. Thick and rich. Definitely a keeper.

I made this apple butter first, then made Apple Butter, the only difference really being the addition of vinegar in the other one. So, Margo, your recipe was my first time ever making apple butter, and it could not have been easier. It was such a treat to come home after a brisk walk through the cold outdoor air to a nice, warm snack of sweet, spicy apples to top over rice cakes. Thank you! I did use Splenda instead of sugar and found no problems there, and I just ended up letting the apples stay in their shape, rather than trying to blend them; I enjoyed that texture. Thank you again for such a great start to making apple butter
God bless!
