208 Reviews of Chocolate Chip Muffins

From: SaraFish

On May 6, 2002

Yummy, yummy, yummy! Just made these and ate one right out of the oven. They are superb! Very chocolatey - in fact, if you had only a half package of chocolate chips, it would still work. The batter is buttery and delicate yet dense enough to hold the chocolate chips without letting them all fall to the bottom of the muffin. I used my regular size muffin tin and filled the cups about 2/3 full and the recipe made 18 muffins. I sprayed the muffin cups with Pam and the baked muffins just fell out - no sticking! I didn't have any nuts so I omitted them and boy are these good! Thanks for the great recipe Charishma! I'm posting a picture, too.

What more can I say?! These are awesome muffins--they taste like the are right from a bakery! I made 30 mini muffins and used 3/4 cup of mini chocolate chips and they were perfect! I think I will fill the cups a little more next time and see if I can achieve that super high muffin top. I loved the way the chips stayed suspended in the batter and not all stuck in the bottom of the pan. I omitted the nuts and didn't miss them. Thanks, Char! This is sure to become a family favourite!

Char, these are very good chocolate chip muffins. They went over great at our house. The only thing that I added was to sprinkle a little bit of sugar on top before baking. We will be making these often. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Wow, with 21 - 5 star reviews, I figured these had to be great... and they were!!! The only changes I made was using only 1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (which I felt were plenty) and omitted the nuts (as I didn't have any on hand). The muffins were delicious! I loved the texture and the buttery taste of the muffins! I will definitely be making these again! Thanks Char!!!

WHy does this recipe have 30 reviews? Why DOESN'T it have 100?! Easy, not overly sweet and tasty. I used chocolate chunks rather than chips and only used about 1/2 - 2/3 of a bag.

I used 1 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. The kids took one bite and said "5 stars, Mom!". I will definitely be making them again. Very tasty without being overly sweet. Great with coffee or milk. Thanks for posting this recipe Charishma!

VERY, VERY good recipe. I have tried other recipes for choc chip muffins, but this is the best by far. Very moist and using half the amount of choc chips, just enough. I think using the full amount, they may be more difficult to remove from the pan. Just sprayed with cooking spray and they came out quite easily. I omitted the nuts because DH doesn't like nuts in most things. They were very nice and will surely make them again. It surprises me that many muffin recipes in well known cookbooks aren't all that great even though I am extremely careful not to overmix. Thanks to Recipezaar and all of you, am having more success.

These are very good. I followed the recipe exactly, just didn't add the nuts. They are very chocolately. My whole family loved them. I agree with one of the other posters though, if you only had a half of bag of chips it would still work. But, I have a house full of chocolate lovers so I will add the full bag each time. Thanks for a great recipe.

Ok, so these were great, but I will make some changes next time. I will use semi-sweet chips. I prefer the taste of them over milk chocolate. I omitted the nuts because I like plain chocolate chip muffins. In order to make them a little healthier, I used 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 1 1/4 white. Also, I would like to add that I made 6 large muffins, and I think that the baking temperature is a little too high. They were browning up too much, but not baking all the way through. Next time, I will bake them at a slightly lower temperature for a longer time. Overall, a great tasting muffin, but with the tweaking, I think they will be even better!
