This is a wonderful recipe! My husband and I hadn't had poke since a trip to Hawaii 5 years ago. I made a half a batch of this for him for Father's Day and he loved it. Absolutely use sushi grade tuna for best results. I think this was better than the poke we got at Ishihara Market, on Kauai, although we missed eating it on the beach! Thanks for posting this delicious recipe Mauisurfer!

Great poke Mauiboy! I've had many poke recipes over the years, but this one's the best. Do some people call you Popio man?

I found this recipe (although pretty authentic) way too salty. I think the teaspoon of salt is probably overkill. I will make it again without the salt.

I served this at recent party and it was nearly gone before the party was half over. I received many fabulous compliments on the dish. Thank you very much for posting such a simple, elegant and tasty dish.

Absolutely fabulous! Be sure to use a "sushi" grade of tuna for best results. I made this twice - once tossing the tuna with the sauce as directed and once serving the sauce on the side for dipping. We really preferred the dipping method - tuna doesn't absorb so much of the soy and get salty that way. ***Side note - the last time I made this, I added in small cubes of watermelon - Iknow it sounds weird, but I had a similar dish at a gourmet restaurant and it is fab!

Mahalo MauiSurferfor a great recipe! My husband went deep sea fishing and brought back a LOT of tuna. We tried several recipes with rare/raw tuna and this was by far the best! As other reviewers have mentioned this it is a little on the salty side so use low sodium soy sauce. Also the green onions help control the taste of the salt so make sure not to omit them.

Thank you! This was awesome! Made it for my husband for Valentines Day- he loved it. We had some left over so the next day I seared the tuna on a skewer and served it for appetizers at a dinner party. Everyone loved it.

This recipe is phenomenal. I personally make it without the maui onions and sometimes I throw in some diced avocados. It's a raging success every time I make it regardless. Thanks for posting your recipe!!
