Fixed these just the way you directed. Then I put them in the food processor w/ a little lime juice and made the perfect lunch tortilla. Thank you. These will be a regular on my menu!

Superb. I sliced some grape tomatoes in half and added them in with the garlic. I also added a dash of cayenne pepper while the dish was simmering. It was great.

OK I live in the heavily cuban South Florida area and I never have had beans this good!! I am always dubious about ordering them out anyway because they're often made with lard. I will look no further for any other recipes. Spice and balance was perfect! I made this as my dinner and after my hubby finished his tacos, I begged him just to try. I am submitting a photo of what's left! Mr. Carnivious would've polished them off if I'd have let him. GREAT recipe, worth more stars! Thanks!

Ay Caramba is right!! These beans are delicious. I followed your directions exactly and they were very well seasoned. The cumin and garlic give great flavor with a little zing from the vinegar. I followed your suggestion and served over seasoned rice. Thanks Carol.

While I found this recipe to be superb I noticed a glaring error in the preparation. As a native cuban-american, I have eaten black beans, among others, all my life and when I first noticed the image provided for the recipe, something seemed wrong. They are way too thick on first glance. I did not think much until I made the beans... When making beans out of the can, for every can used you MUST use an equal amount of water, you can use the empty can for the water. If you don't, your result is much like the picture, way to sticky and dry (although still tasty). By making that simple adjustment, your result worlds better.

Great black beans! This was very easy and the spices were wonderful. I added 2 minced habanero peppers to the onion and peppers but only because I was craving something really spicy. I'm so glad you suggested serving over rice with lime juice! The lime juice was a fantastic addition!!! Thanks Carol.

This was delicious but adding a half packet of Goya Sazon took this to an even higher level. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Nice beans. I added a can of tomatoes with green chiles to add a little more flavor and moisture. Next time I'd add a jalapeno, too.

This is the first recipe I tried on RecipeZaar and I followed the recipe exactly. It was very delicious, my family could not get enough. This is a recipe I will definitely incorporate into our meal plans! Thank you for sharing!

Quite good! I used red kidney beans instead of black beans (its what I had in the cabinets). Other than that, I followed the recipe to a T - halving it. I stuffed the beans into a pita bread (gotta let the fluid drain out for a minute, otherwise the bread gets very soggy). Economical, simple, tasty. Thanks!
