You can also spread mayo and sprinkly with parmesan cheese and place in toater oven. The mayo will bubble and mix with the cheese. Also, the longer you toast, the crunchier. YUM!

These were so fast, easy, and great kid pleasers. I needed to use up leftover hotdog buns, and was quite happy to find this recipe. Not quite the same as the usual garlic bread, but every bit as tasty and an excellent use of something that often gets wasted. I popped them under the broiler until the cheese melted and the edges started to brown, maybe 5-10 minutes tops.

My mom has been making this toast for years. I think of it as comfort food. As hard as I tried, I could never get mine to taste like my mom's - until I used salted butter. It was amazing.

Awesome. Quick and tasty. We had one with just butter, garlic and onion powder. And another we had with butter, garlic and mozzerella. My son and I both enjoyed them. Thank you very much.

This is so cool for those times that I don't have any italian bread. Quick, easy. I love the idea of the added ingredients. I used just the mushrooms but next time I'll consider some of the other optional items mentioned.

I have made this recipe since my kids were little. Easy for little hands to hold. The leftovers froze well in ziploc bags too!

On 9/16/07, I wanted a quick, but yet still good garlic bread to go with Easy Tex Mex Stroganoff. So,I chose this one,and I'm really glad I did. All that was in the house was hamburger buns so that was what was used.Since it was a Tex-Mex type meal,a blend of 4 types of mexican cheese was used instead of mozzarella. And the recipe cuts down very easily, since you can make only what you need.Thank you for posting, and "Keep Smiling

What a easy and simple way of making your own garlic bread out of buns. I love the idea! Ours turn out crunchy on the edges but tender in middle where cheese and butter was. This is most certainly going to be a regular way of making a quick garlic bread. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.

Yes, I've done this! It's great in a pinch when you have an Italian meal and no bread to go with it!

Easy, tasty and a great way to use up leftover hot dog buns OR add bread to a meal when you have nothing else on hand (that was my case)
I used whole-wheat buns, and cut the recipe down to just 2 buns. I used the butter, garlic powder and shredded mozz, and paired it with a quick Sunday night meal of pasta, jarred sauce & a salad.
