60 Reviews of Sweet and Sour Meatballs

From: iluvmythomas

These were really good!! teh only difference I did was to bake the meatballs at 350 for 20 minutes instead of frying them. But they turned out great and so did the sauce. We served this over rice with green beans on the side for a really good meal. Thanks for sharing! I'm sure I will be making these again.

I have to admit that when I took a good look at the ingredients and saw so much ketchup and brown sugar that I was a little worried. I even tasted the sauce before it simmered, and thought it was way sweet. But after simmering with the meatballs it wasn't too sweet at all and had a really great sweet and sour taste- nicely balanced. The meatballs were easy to make, too. Great recipe! Thanks for posting!

These meatballs are very tasty. The only reason I didn't give them five stars was a family vote! I was outvoted! My family thought they were a little too tangy. I happen to love that. These taste a little like tangy BBQ. My husband thought it was BBQ sauce on the meatballs. I will definately make these again and maybe adjust the amount of vinegar a little for my family's taste. Thanks for a great recipe!

Holy Cow these are Goooood! I use the meatless meatballs for this recipe. I just fry them in some olive oil till they are browned and firm on all sides then dump them into the sauce, stir good, and simmer for 15 minutes. This recipe has become a staple in this house, served with egg noodles and cesear salad. Thanks for one of the best sweet and sour sauce recipes that we have tried. I can't wait to fool the meat eaters!

The meatballs were really good. The only change I would make would be to add a very teeny tiny amount of oregano. Even when I put a fairly small amount the oregano was very overpowering and didn't seem to go with the sweet and sour sauce. Good overall recipe. The sauce would definitely be better with rice than with noodles.

Yum yum yum!! I can only vouch for the sauce because I used frozen meatballs, but the sauce is yummmy! I did a bit of tweaking. I used honey instead of brown sugar, maybe only about 1/3 of a cup's worth since I don't like my sauces too sweet. And since I had some leftover tomato sauce, I subbed half of the ketchup for that. I forgot to add the lemon juice though, so it ended up being just sweet and tangy (still really good!) I'm sure I'll make this again, and I won't forget the lemon juice next time. Thank you!

I didn't make the meatballs, I did however make the sauce. I had a leftover pork loin roast and choped it up and poured the sauce over it. It was awesome over rice. Next time I'll try with meatballs. I'm sure it will be great. Thanks for the recipe.

I used a slightly modified version of the meatballs without the worcestershire sauce or oregano. I made the sauce as directed but ran out of ketchup and substituted tomato sauce for most of it. They both turned out delicious! I baked in the over for an hour and served over rice. Only thing I'd do differently next time is make more sauce. It's very thick and delicious. We like a lot so we can have it on the rice as well. The picture looks just like mine. THANK YOU for this recipe!!

This was a great suace. I used it for spare ribs instead of meatballs, and cut back on the soya to 1 tablespoon. Everyone loved it. Have used it many times since!
