9 Reviews of Smoky Thousand Island Dressing

Loved this twist on traditional thousand island. I had about 1 T. of minced onion leftover so in that went and I had a few spanish olives floating in the jar so I minced those and threw them in as well. It was lovely on a salad with grilled chicken, hard cooked egg and fresh red peppers, and equally as good as a sandwich spread. There is no doubt that this will be repeated here!

With homemade relish, barbecue sauce and mustard, this was a very good dressing. Sure beats bought stuff.

Oh, Miller thank you for answering my request. I just made this recipe and it has the right amount of smokey flavor and the right amount of "zip" from the horseradish. My husband is a happy man! This dressing will brighten up any salad. Thanks, Carole in Orlando

This thousand island dressing is absolutely awesome! The smoky flavor lends an unexpected but welcome twist to an old favorite. Last night I made Reuben sandwiches using this dressing. They were even better than usual! No more store-bought stuff for me! I'm sticking with yours, Miller! (Oh, and by the way, I used low-fat mayo, and the taste was still remarkable...)

I was not the one that requested this recipe but I love Thousand Island dressing so I gave it a try. It is fantastic! Love the smokey barbecue flavor to it! Thanks for a great recipe Miller. I don't have to buy bottled anymore. ; )

I made this for our grilled Rueben sandwiches this afternoon. They were great with the dressing. I will have to have them again when the dressing has chilled longer.

First things first: delicious and a huge hit at church social this morning. The salad dressing: Out of relish-used capers for relish, cut hickory smoke down to 1/4 teaspoon, added cracked black pepper and pinch of salt. Added a very small amount of smoked paprika on top. Salad: iceberg, cabbage (didn't have red cabbage only green unfortunately), minced carrots, diced fuji apple, celery, raisins, cucumbers, orange bell, toms, red onion and green onion. The one fault I find is the recipe calls for too much hickory smoke. Other than that, a salad dressing I plan to make again very soon! Best prepared at least one hour in advance. Miller lives on in his recipes!

Loved this!! Used it for KBlakely's Reuben Meatballs and thought it was an excellent dressing! I kept going back for "tastes" before I actually served dinner!
