179 Reviews of Oreo Truffles

From: Peggy Lynn

On Apr 4, 2004

These are absolutely fabulous!!!My DH calls them "evil".....extremely rich, easy to make(albeit it time consuming).I made these using Mint flavored oreos and they ended up tasting similar to Marshall Field's Famous Frango MintsThese also make for a very pretty presentation---they look lovely with the white chocolate drizzled over the milk chocolate. Thanks a million--PeggyLynn

This recipe is excellent! It is not what I expected at all, but it is very good. I used semisweet chocolate instead of milk chocolate on the outside because I wanted the coating to be the same color as the inside. Also, after I swirled the white chocolate on, I mixed some of the leftover melted brown chocolate with the leftover melted white chocolate. It made a slightly lighter brown chocolate that I swirled over the white swirls. The candy looks very professional and tastes great!

These are awesome, my hubby asks me to make them as soon as he eats the last one! One time I made them I used white chocolate chips, and it didn't drizzle b/c there is a stabalizer in the chips, so be sure to use a bar. I divided the white chocolate into batches and added red and green food coloring to be festive. Also, I used more milk chocolate, b/c towards the end, the balls weren't coating well. Enjoy!

This is the first time I'm leaving a comment on a recipe but that's because these were FANTASTIC. Be forewarned though, despite the simple ingredients and the simple instructions, these things take quite a bit of time to make, create quite a bit of dishes to wash, and take quite a long time to finish. But the payoff is worth it. They taste divine! The salt in the oreo perfectly complements the sweet creaminess of the milk chocolate coating and if you use a good white chocolate to drizzle the flavour of that also adds to it. I tried both mint and regular. Next time I would try adding a bit of brandy to the chocolate filling because I think that would be delicious as well. I had to make 400 of these suckers to give away as gifts to people. They just loved them. I included instructions with each package that these should be refrigerated and allowed to come to room temperature just before serving. Thanks for the recipe!

These are simply delicious and so easy to make. Our local Junior Service Organization has adopted the recipe to make and serve at their Spring charity event. I recommend using the tubs of Baker's Chocolate that you can melt in the microwave. I have done it both ways, and the microwave method turns out better and is definitely a quicker clean up!

These always win rave reviews! My original recipe for these (from a friend) calls for twice the amount of cream cheese here. I compromised and used 12 oz. of Neufchatel cheese for the first batch, which I used regular Oreos for. After chilling for half an hour or so, it was the perfect rolling consistency. I used my small melon-baller to scoop the balls and that seemed to make the perfect bite-size. For the second batch I made, I used mint Oreos, which only seem to come in the double stuffed. So I used just 8 oz. of the Neufchatel cheese, and the consistency matched the other batch pretty well. Each batch made 4 1/2 to 5 dozen small truffles. I dipped half of them in white chocolate and half in milk chocolate. Just divine! Thanks for posting this recipe!

This is a great recipe! I was given this recipe a while back and have made them several times. The only difference is that I use mint oreos. Try these for a very popular treat!

I gave this 5 stars. My niece and I love these little truffles. I got my copy from WETM Tv through Chef Fred. We were at a Health Expo and as a naughty dish Chef Fred served these. The copy I have is slightly different. Instead of Vanilla Extract my copy calls for 1-2 Tbl Brandy or your favorite Liquor (OPT), 1 12oz pkg Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips, and 1 Tbl Crisco shortening mixed together after melting the chips. The rest is the same. Thanks for posting such a yummy recipe! Christine (internetnut)

I have been selling these for a few years now and they are a great seller. I don't even bother putting in the extract unless it's to make a subtle flavor change like with raspberry or mint. The basic no frills ones are the best though.

I dipped my truffles in Mint Chocolate and drizzled the tops with green colored white chocolate. An elegant and tasty treat for my food gifts this year! I bought a chocolate dipper for this project and am amazed at how much easier my dipping went- and how professional my candies look!
