once you find out how easy it is to make this yourself you will never buy it premade again. as with all things homemade it tastes much better as well.

Bonnie; Simple and easy to make. Just super-great. I made this recipe for a group of 16 at our GOURMET CLUB, served it with Microwaved Pita Trianges, WOW!!, also with Roasted Sweet Red Pepper Strips. Thanks much. "Uncle Bill"

I seem to have given birth to a hummus addict, so having this recipe makes life easier; it makes a nice amount, and she can always have her "fix"! DH surprised me by raving about this too; I never knew he loved hummus, but he said he never did either until he tasted home-made hummus. Looks like I'll be making this recipe every few days!

Excellent balance, I added 4 garlic cloves and cayenne pepper however.

This is better than store bought! I made my own tahini using a recipe from here since I couldn't find it at any store. I also roasted a small head of garlic and used the whole thing (we love roasted garlic). Every ingredient I used was from the 99 cent only store. I was buying a small container for over $5 at the gourmet store and this recipe made twice as much and tasted twice as good. Thank you for posting!

A good basic recipe... very useful as a starting point for tweaking the ingredients and adding things (as others have done) to get a flavorful finshed product. I added a couple of dashes of cayenne pepper, as well as a dash of onion powder and some shallot salt that's sold in a local spice shop. Excellent!

This was the first recipe that I tried to make from recipezaar.com and I loved it. I chose it over many other similar recipes because it seemed most simple. This recipe is a great basic recipe. I did, however, modify it a little by reducing the amount of oil because I try to maintain a very strict diet. It still turned out great with half the oil. Thanks for sharing.

Bonnie, you've got the Syrian thing down! We use a lot less tahine (2 1/2 TBS) and oliv oil (2 TBS)in our recipe, and 2 cloves of garlic. I also drizzle olive oil and sprinkle parsley and mint on top before serving.

I feel bad to rate this with only three stars but I followed the recipe exactly and I do like hummus but unfortunately I didn't like the way this tasted. Sorry.

This is fantastic! It seems to taste even better the second day, so I recommend making it the night before. It was a big hit with a platter of pita triangles and fresh veggies (baby carrots, bell pepper strips, celery, and radishes), garnished with some Kalamata olives, if you're feeling really gourmet.
