6 Reviews of Very Cool Koolaid Hair Dye

From: LauraTracey

On Jul 25, 2008

I've tried this way before, but that's too much water - the color will be diluted. I generally would use about 1/2c of water for shoulder-length hair. What I've learned since then is to mix the kool-aid into hair conditioner. Wash your hair and apply the mixed conditioner. Allow to sit overnight (if possible). Then rinse hair and do not shampoo for the first 24-hours. It works much better than water method!

I gave this four stars as a compromise. Speaking as a brunette, this didn't do much other than make my scalp crusty yet sweet-smelling. However, my co-conspirator, who is blonde, ended up with a nice head of Blue Raspberry hair. Thanks! It was fun.

LOL Barefoot Beachcomber; back in the 90's several people I knew were dying their hair with Kool-Aid. I might have also tried this, but honestly I can't remember. I will save this and maybe try it again. Thanks for bringing back the memories. :D

We are going to try to do just the tips of the hair. Does anyone have any suggestions on colors(flavors)?

I have found that on darker hair using 2 pkgs. of kool aid and 3 cups boiling water , and 2-3 tbl. of corn starch works better. Instead of just a rinse, this makes a paste that sits in the hair for a few hours. I had some old shower caps (from a hotel vacation) that I used instead of plastic wrap, because long hair can get pulled or yanked with it. I am now the proud parent of pink haired kids. Good luck all!

LOL, well I am guilty of dying my hair this way many times in high school. Mainly to drive my mother crazy. Worked like a charm! I guess I didn't realize people still did this.
