35 Reviews of Subway's Chipotle Southwest Sauce

Its good, but if you proportionate it up, I find that its too much lime... so play with the recipe. As for the other CDNs out there, you can buy Chipotle peppers at Loblaws (or atleast the one I went to).

In order for this to taste good, you must puree the chipotle in adobo sauce first, and then measure from the puree. And also, we used fresh lime as opposed to the kind that comes in the little lime shaped bottles. This makes a big difference! We also used a clove from garlic that was bought at Aldi. It tasted very good, but the garlic is noticeably stronger than in the real Subway sauce. Overall, I believe that this is probably the original sauce that they came up with to use at Subway, but that they have figured out how to make it easier using powders, and have added preservatives. This sauce is like the Subway sauce, but much fresher. It is still pretty balanced tasting, just much more lively, and less "preserved" and instant tasting. It doesn't need any salt at all, and you could easily get away with using half to a quarter of the amount of garlic they recommend. Very good recipe.

Oh yea, this is some good stuff! Has a real kick, but it isn't too overwhelming. We use it as a salad dressing, dip, and spoon it on any Mexican dish like fahitas or tacos. I just cut the recipe in half and put everything in my little 'handy chopper' and whiz it for a few seconds. Also, I make a veg. version using soy mayo. Excellent sauce, MEAN CHEF!

Great sauce! Husband says it tastes like Subway's sauce. Will keep on hand in the refrigerator for future sandwiches!

I usually get the sweet onion sauce and decided to do something different. Glad I did. This was great, spicy, and a good way to use my chipotles. Thanks! I made this for the Pick a Chef game.

Well, Mean Chef, this is definitly a winner. I left out the salt, used light mayo and used bottled lime juice. I had it on some left over pot roast and it was wonderful. If I had any complaint it would be that instead of tablespoons you used ounces. This may be a little confusing for people that don't know that 1 fluid ounce is actually 2 tablespoons. This will be stocked in my fridge at all times, now.

Really good sauce. It tastes pretty close to the subway southwest sauce, although it is a bit spicier. For those who aren't looking for too much spice, I recommend using less of the chipotle chiles, possibly by half.

Very good sauce, very spicy and great for sandwiches and salads. A bit too limey for my taste (I'll make it a 1/4 ounce next time). It's also hotter than Subway's original (if this is the same sauce that is called mexican southwest in germany), but with a little yoghurt it's great. Alternatively add a bit of ketchup and the color comes considerably closer to the original from Subway imo.

I haven't made this recipe yet, but i plan to this weekend.. I just thought i'd give yall a tip.. When making this or going to subway, Put both Chipotle and Sweet onion sauce on your sandwich (subway melt seems the best) It sounds odd, But they go GREAT together..it's almost heavenly. Cucumber also tends to help with the flavor. :D

Great Recipe! My husband's favourite sub at Subway is the southwest turkey and bacon sub and this is the sauce that makes it his favourite! I had to wait until my trip to the States to purchase the chipotle chili in adobo as I can't seem to find it around Winnipeg. My husband loves this sauce and I am glad to be able to make it myself. Thanks for posting!
