16 Reviews of Coffee Jello

From: smoke alarm jr

I am not a big fan of jello but I love coffee so decided to try this one! I made one batch with very strong regular coffee and the second batch with homemade Kahlua. Both were incredible! I loved the Kahlua one quite a bit better though. (I wonder why!) With some sweetened whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel I was grinning over this fun dessert! Next time I will be trying a bit of chocolate sauce over it.

My mother would make coffee jello with banana slices suspended in it. If I was a good boy I got it with whipped cream!

Thank you for posting this recipe. My 79 year old dad was remembering when my Mom used to make this for him back when they were first married (in the late 1940's I believe). I made it for him as a surprise for our Christmas gathering and he was very please. It was the exactly as he remembered, served with whipped cream. I really enjoyed and will definitely be making this again in warmer weather. (December in Maine was VERY cold this year)

Ok I am pleasantly surprised. Was looking for a cool, low fat, low cal coffee based dessert when I came stumbled on to this. I tagged it and then drug my heals when it came to making this. Oh yes fear had me by the taste buds in a strangle hold and oh what had I been thinking when I tagged something called Coffee Jello? But obligation in hand I brewed up the coffee and broke out the Splenda (used 1 cup) and set about making this. After hours of chilling and with the thermostat inching towards 100 F. DH and I sat down to a bowl (with a dollop of fat free Cool Wip). Well wonder of wonders my fears had been for not. This was perfect in so many way low fat, low cal, will not over fill after a heavy meal, along with being cool and refreshing. Thanks so much for the post will be making aging.

Sensational! I had no idea anything like this existed, but I sure am glad to have discovered it! I used Kahlua and the full 3/4 cup of sugar and it is fabulous. Thanks for posting, Iron Bloomers!

Ooooh- adding Kahlua!! I had coffee jello durning long sticky summers in Japan. Sounded so odd, but tastes so good. Can't wait to give this a try!

I'm just thrilled to find this recipe. When I was a kid, my parents would take us to Durgin Park, a restaurant in Boston which served at long tables and was famous for how many dishes members of the wait staff could carry at one time. We always had coffee jello for dessert, which was cut into tiny cubes and piled into dessert dishes. At one time I had a recipe for coffee Jello, but lost it, and am thrilled to get this very good one back in my recipe collection. Have never tried it with Kahlua, but look forward to trying that variation at some point.

Absolutely perfect! I used to enjoy coffee jello (and tea jello) when I lived in Japan, and this is just how I remember it. Best to start with a good brew of your favorite coffee beans because coffee really is the main flavor, and mediocre coffee will have the same results. This is perfection for dessert! I served it in small coffee cups so that it looked like the real thing, and it only made 8 servings that way, but it looked awesome. Thanks for sharing this easy, yummy and classy recipe.

I think you have to like iced coffee to appreciate this recipe--and I do and I loved it! DH said it was weird chewing his coffee. I used Splenda instead of sugar and topped with low fat Redi-Whip and sugar-free chocolate sauce. I took it to a brunch and those who were brave enough to try it, liked it.

This is soooo good! Hubby can't get past the coffee taste paired with the jello texture, but that just means more for me! I never drink my whole pot of coffee, so this is a great way to use what's left and I'm never disappointed with the results. This becomes quite decadent when topped with real whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel &/or chocolate sauce!
