35 Reviews of Refrigerated Strawberry Cake

UPDATE: Made this cake again with the right size of strawberries. Last time i grabbed (2) 16oz. pkg. No wonder i had so much left over, sorry Michelle your recipe is perfect as is. This cake was awesome!! Extremely moist, and full of strawberry flavor. When spreading the strawberries on top of the cake let the fruit soak in on its own. I know it's tempting to get a spoon and try to guide the fruit into the holes, but don't do it you will only end up covering the holes (which is what i did). I used the icing recipe from #75591 What a great icing especially for this cake. Because it was a special occasion I decorated the top of the cake with chocolate covered strawberries, this made such an elegant and professional display. I hope you are as pleased with this cake as me and my hosts were. I took this cake to a friends house for dessert, NONE LEFT and 5 DEMANDS for the recipe. Thank you Michelle =)

I had to try this recipe because it is very similar to the Better than Sex cake that I always make. The only exceptions are that for my cake I use a white cake mix and instead of pureed strawberries I use strawberry flavored jell-o. You recipe was wonderful and I absolutely love the flavor of the strawberries! My husband I couldn’t decide which one was best but I‘ll defiantly be making yours again soon.

This was an excellent cake; I made it for my birthday, and it was so delicious! Everyone wanted seconds! Next time, I going to use a 12 ounce container of Cool Whip. Thank you for such a wonderful recipe!

I have to admit as I was pouring the strawberries over the top of this cake I thought for SURE I'd be serving a pile of mush to my guests for dessert. I actually was panicking trying to think of a backup plan! Happily, after I frosted it and put it in the fridge for a few hours it was great! Everyone RAVED over how good this cake was. We had leftovers later that night and we agreed that it tasted even better after sitting longer. Rather than the 4 hours recommended I would recommend at least 8 or more. GREAT cake!!! YUMMAY!

What a super delicious cake Michelle! so easy to make, I also put the strawberry puree over the cake when it was still hot, and I topped it with grated chocolate... I had so many frozen strawberries in my freezer, and I was looking for recipes to use them up, the pudding/cool whip mixture is so delicious! My strawberry-lovin' DH especially enjoyed this cake! thank you so much for a wonderful cake recipe!...Kitten

First, the taste was good, but it was way too moist for me. My family liked it, but it just was too wet to my liking. I'm glad that I tried it, but don't think I would make again.

Excellent! I took this recipie to a Strawberry Dinner, where everyone had to bring a strawberry dish. With so many strawberry desserts I was sure I would have some left over, But NONE was left. Thanks again, it was WONDERFUL.

I thought this was pretty sweet, yet my husband really loved it. I used one container of strawberries thawed and forgot to puree. I will make it again with pureed strawberries. I think because I used a store brand whipped topping also didn't help with the taste. I am going to make it again for him and do it the right way! LOL

I have made this several times (I found the recipe on the cake mix box) lol. There is never any left and if it lasts about 2 days you cant cut it, just dip it with a spoon. Its that moist and yummy. I put my strawberry puree on while the cake is hot then it really soaks into the cake. I have even used fresh strawberries because I didn't have any frozen. Not as moist that way but still very good. Just have to put some sugar with the berries to make it syrupy if you use the fresh berries. I have made this with white cake mix, strawberry cake mix, and yellow cake mix. I have found that I prefer the white, as it has enough strawberry flavor, without being so overwhelming. A good balance of flavors by using white cake mix.

WOW, this was great for a HOT day (92) in September. Took this over the the neighbors for a cook out, came home with an empty pan. Try it, you'll like it!
