Excellent casserole CL! I had leftover ham in my freezer just calling me to use up! I made a couple of changes however.... I doubled the recipe, as my son was coming over, and added fresh minced garlic, two packs of chicken boullion and a couple tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce mixture, I also used grated marble cheese in place of the monterey jack cheese, and baked it in a 13x9 inch casserole dish, it fit just perfectly, it's almost like a kicked up scalloped potato casserole but much better! This is a definate keeper CL! thanks so much for sharing.....Kitten|

This is SOOOO good! I did use mild cheddar cheese instead of monterey jack because that is all I had. I did double the recipe but I tripled the sauce and it turned out fantastic. Gobbled up by all!

i substituted apple juice for the wine. i wasn't sure what size pan to cook the recipe in, so i used a 11x7 which i found wasn't big enough because the potatoes didn't cook thoroughly for the time designated. also, the meat should be diced instead of sliced. in addition, i found the cheese stuck to the foil (i even sprayed with Pam) so next time i make it, the last layer of cheese will be added during the final cooking stage which will be increased by 15-30 minutes. overall: easy to prepare, good recipe that my family enjoyed.

I loved the wine sauce for this dish, it was delicious. I didnt follow the quantities exactly as i was making it for 2, i did follow the the quantities for the sauce though,so i had quite alot, it made it so moist. i used cheddar instead of monterey, which tasted great. I had to leave it in the oven for an extra 15 minutes and turned the heat up a bit as i didnt think the potatoes were cooked enough. A great recipe. Thanks country lady. xx

This was very good. Even after eating my fill of Easter ham I still gorged myself on this delicious Casserole the next day. The only two things I changed was left out the salt (the ham made up for it) and used a mixture of pepper jack and extra sharp cheddar. thanks for a keeper!

I may have given this recipe more stars, but I used sweet white wine and that was a mistake. Dry white wine would have been a better choice. I left the peels on the potatoes and it worked out fine. (Less work too.)

We thought this was good, but I can see that garlic might help flavor it a little. I didn't have white wine open so I used red, but the flavor was nice.

Big hit, especially with my 8 year old. I did not use wine, I replaced it with chicken stock, and I had to add some cream before baking as it looked a little dry. I will double the sauce the next time.

Really good & makes plenty! The wine in the sauce added that something extra. Thanks for sharing, CountryLady!
