Very good recipe, but I would recommend cutting back on the cinnamon to about 1/4 tsp. The amount called for in the recipe overpowers the dish.

I think this is one of my new favorite recipes on Zaar. I loved the rich spiciness of the rice, and the subtle crunch of the onions...the tomato, cucumber and yogurt side was pure genius! The flavor and texture combinations in the recipe are truly fabulous. Thanks Mean!

OK. Wow! This is a flavour that I remember from my childhood and I've been looking for it for a long time... Now I found it and it was awesome. Thank-you! There was ONE thing missing from what I remembered though. And I've added it and I dare say it's even better. Raisins. Lightly saute some raisins and add them in... MMMMmmmmm!!!

This is a meal in itself, forget side dish! I used only a tablespoon of oil and brown jasmine rice, and let it cook an extra 15 minutes. Then I uncovered it to boil off the remaining liquid, probably 20 more minutes. The flavors all go well together here, but the caramelized onions make the dish!

This is a delicious combinattion of rice and vegetables with spices typical of the region, and it's very, very good. The yogurt offsets the spiciness nicely. To cut the fat content and calorie count a bit, I did reduce the amount of oil to 1 Tbs in Step 1 and 1 Tbs in Step 7, and accordingly lowered the heat at which I cooked a bit. This worked fine for me.

Loved it! The only changes I made were reduce the amount of cinnamon and lentils (DH is not too fond of them) and increased the amount of rice. Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipe.

Very good. I left off the cinnamon and allspice and didn't bother with the yogurt topping (although I think it must be delicious!). I also added a teaspoon of brown sugar to the onions while sauteeing. The cumin flavour really stood out, lending a smokiness to the dish that was fabulous. I served this with blackened snapper and everyone loved it. I definately plan to make this again. Another great recipe of Mean Chef's.

Never had Lebanese before and this recipe is a fantastic first impression! Used chicken broth instead of vegtable and sour cream instead of the yogurt. Very good! My teen really liked it too. Will make this again!
