It was a work-friends birthday last week and I promised to make a cake to take into work. Found this recipe and thought I'd give it a bash. Instead of the flour / cornflour / baking soda combination, I replaced this with self-raising flour (UK) and it came out so well that people have asked me to make again. Very moist cake. I was worried that the spices might be a bit overpowering but it was fine. Everyone that had some wants some more.

I made this today on a whim, because I was bored and felt like baking something simple. Very tasty cake! Mine fell in the middle though..The amount of spices was perfect! Would be great with some whipped cream on top.

Very nice cake, good texture, moist, tasty from the spices. It baked in exactly 30 minutes. Did not bake it in a square pan but used a small 8inch bundt pan. When I checked on it after half the time I thought uh-oh, it rises only at the edges, should have used a square pan. But after 30 minutes the whole cake had risen, looked very nice and I was pleased with the result. Thanks for posting.

My mother was coming from out of state for a visit, and I had no eggs in the house. I searched for eggless cakes and this one caught my eye. I doubled the recipe and baked it in 2- 9 inch round pans. I used half vanilla and half almond extract. This cake was incredible! I used my new favorite frosting, silky vanilla butter frosting (23715) and also used part vanilla, part almond extract in it. My Mom who is the best cook I know said the cake was delicious! I will make this recipe again!

I made this twice this week--once, for me, and the second time tonite when my sister, her children, my bf and I when over to my mom and dad's house to decorate their Christmas tree. It's about 50 degrees tonite in Florida, so it actually feels like winter for a change..a perfect night to decorate the tree..and a perfect night for a slice of Spice cake..and this is the perfect recipe. I doubled the recipe for tonite since there were so many of us..and everyone loved it ! I topped the cake with a homemade cinnamon frosting that matched the flavors of the cake perfectly-the spices in the cake are so wonderful and delicious! I followed the recipe exactly both times, but the second time, I didn't have any lemon juice, so I had to leave it out,and the results were just as good. My mom even kept the leftovers, so that proves she liked it !! (if she didn't, she'd have sent them all home with me!) This recipe is so quick and easy to make, and the ingredients are staples that are always on hand..spice cake has always been a favorite of mine, but I've never found a recipe this good..I can't say enough good things about it..thank you so much! This is a great recipe for kids with milk and egg allergies. My kids loved it, and so did I.

I made this one day simply because I had very few ingredients at home and didn't feel like going to the store for anything. My family and I loved it. Although, my sister was disappointed when she first tried it. She came home and thought that I had made a chocolate cake. What a surprise for her! Thank you so much for posting this recipe. It is one I am definetly going to hold onto and make again in the future.

Made for All New Zaar Cookbooks Tag. What a nice cake. This would be great with cream cheese frosting on it, but it's pretty good all by itself. I like the fact that it's made with stuff I always have in my pantry. Thanks for posting this!

This is a great spice cake - simple and inexpensive to make. Spice cake is my mom's favourite cake, and she is a vegetarian so this cake recipe is great. I only tweak a little - doing a mix of AP and WW flour and cutting down some of the sugar. Thanks for the recipe!

I do daycare and have a little guy that can't have eggs so I started researching things that I could make for snacks and such and came upon these. Today is his birthday so I wanted to make some cupcakes. I like to serve them in small portions so I made these in my mini muffin pan. I ended up with 42 mini cupcakes. I will frost them later with a little frosting but I tried one unfrosted and it was pretty good, not too sweet, not too spicy. Thank you for a recipe that can make it so my little egg allergic guy won't feel left out!
