38 Reviews of Homemade Salsa using canned tomatoes!

From: SugarMegnolia

On Aug 14, 2007

Oh. My. This salsa is beyond terrific. Perfect heat. EASY. QUICK. Cheap! Healthy! Balanced exactly right. What doesn't this salsa have? What am I missing?! I can eat this by the spoon. Honestly. I love it.

Easy to make and allows for adjustments. I used a half of a large can of pureed tomatoes bc I didn't have diced. Also, didn't need to use the blender since I used purreed tomatoes. I did minced the garlic. Didn't feel like chopping onions either so I used powder (screaming kids dictated that one!) It was good just the same! Made it for my Low Carb Chicken Taco Salad. YUM!

So simple and easy. Wow!!! I love it. I used diced tomatoes out of the can. Jarred picked Jalapeno peppers. That is the only change I made and I am having a grand time eatting it with my Salt and Pepper Potato Chips. Hugs 2 U

Very nice recipe. I really liked the convenience of using canned tomatoes. I made it exactly as written and it turned out quite well, although I think that I will replace the parsley with cilantro next time. Thanks for sharing, I'll be making it again

This was delicious. I used less jalapeno's (1) and substituted cilantro for the parlsey. Definately a keeper!

You've got a huge winner in this little salsa recipe, Sara! Soooo good, and soooo easy ... I did use canned jalapenos and a 1/2 a can of rotels, along with the canned, diced tomatoes ... otherwise, followed your directions. It has "zing", but, not over-powering ... The good flavor of the salsa comes right on out! We loved it!! Thanks, Kiddo ... I'll definitely make this one again! Laudee

This salsa turned out great! We added more jalapenos and tabasco sauce because we like our salsa hot. This is a recipe we'll make over and over again! It's so simple and tasty!

I've been making this salsa for weeks now--time to say thanks for a great recipe! It's quick, really good, you can add more or less of the ingredients and still have a terrific salsa (I've added some oregano with great results!). This recipe is a staple in my kitchen!

This is an excellent base to start with. I took even more shortcuts and used canned tomatoes with garlic and onion already in them and added a can of mild ro-tel tomatoes as well as a small can on chopped green chilies. I was able to blend it all together in just a few minutes and everyone ate it fast. Thanks, this is such an easy and delicious recipe that can be adjusted to anyones taste and still be wonderful.

This is so quick, easy, and good! I used pickled jalapenos, only half an onion, cilantro instead of parsley, and left out the tabasco and pepper. It was exactly how I like it...full of the taste of onion, garlic, and cilatro with not much spice. You can tailor this recipe however you like it, starting with the base of 1.5 (14 oz) cans of diced tomatoes. Thanks for a great salsa!!
