Recipes so scrumptious really just don’t come any easier than this. Fabulously clear instructions inviting one into the whole magical world of homemade sorbets which are – from the first one I made totally superior to what’s available in commercial brands! And to be able to make this without buying an extra appliance I absolutely don’t have room for in the kitchen: just so exciting! I made a blackberry and strawberry sorbet and, like Susang, I added no sugar. Very easily done, for me: I really don’t like overly sweet foods. I unreservedly recommend this recipe as an over-the-top five-star recipe plus. When you’re trying to watch calories and fat – I made this for the post ZWT Healthy for the Holidays Challenge – how amazing to be able to eat something like this which has such negligible fat content! I look forward to exploring the many possibilities that this recipe offers. Thank you so much, Jenny, for sharing an absolute gem of a recipe!

Made this with 3 cups frozen blueberries and 1 cup frozen mango (to add creaminess), 2 T sugar, and 1 T (bottled) lemon juice. The mixture ended up being too dry to puree effectively (I kept getting air pockets), so I added 2 T apple juice to the mixture, which worked great!!

I loved the rich and natural flavour of the sorbet, and it was really quick and easy to make, without an ice cream machine. I made a mango sorbet. I had two problems though: 1) The frozen mixture was way too dry and hard to process in a blender or food processor, so I had to use my hand blender, which always gives the smoothest results. Even then it was still difficult to mix (my blender actually started 'smoking'!). The lemon juice just wasn't enough to make it manageable, so I suggest adding more liquid, like orange juice. 2) If you add sugar to the fruit and just freeze it that way, you will taste grains of undissolved sugar in the end product, which I find quite unpleasant. I think it's better to make a syrup (by dissolving sugar in boiled water first), or add another liquid sweetener such as honey or maple syrup. To sum up, I prefer making sorbets with fresh fruit and a syrup, and freeze it in a churning machine. But with a few adaptations, this recipe is a really good alternative for people who don't have an ice cream machine. Thank you.

Oh yum! I used previously frozen banana and strawberries and added a little more lime juice then called for. I also used splenda and, because the strawberries were really not very sweet, added more then was called for. I loved it and tasted mostly lime and strawberry. My husband loved it as well but tasted predominantly banana and strawberry. Looking forward to trying these with other fruits!

I bouught the bags of frozen fruit's for smoothies in the freezer section of the store. Turned out great, easy to make and much healthier than ice cream. I didn't add the sugar and it still tasted great.

Wonderful!! I used a 20 oz can of pineapple chunks in pineapple juice with 1 large and 1 small banana. Used 4 tablespoons of sugar and some of the reserved pineapple juice. Very easy to make.

My NEW FAVORITE of all zaar recipes! This is so good and easy it's just unbelievable! The most delicious way to get your serving of fruit, you have to try it and see for yourself. I used splenda for the sugar and a mixture of bagged frozen fruit I had bought at the grocery, (strawberry, pineapple, papaya & mango). OMG, soooooo gooooood!!!! After this was whipped up it was ready to eat right then and there. A soft, smooth sorbet that has the just right consistency for me. If you want your kids to eat more fruit, just whip them up a batch of this. If needed use honey or maple syrup for the sweetner. Bet they gobble it right up. If you have ice pop cups this would good to use in them also for quick and healthy treats. Jenny, you hit a home run with this one, out of the ballpark. Thank you so much. A great one for dieters too. (like me) Oh, I had to use extra liquid (juice) half a lemon just wasn't enough liquid to keep my chopper going. Just put in a little at a time until it would run smoothly. One more thing, the nutrition facts for this recipe is waaaayyyyyy off!

This sorbet is incredible and even my fruit hating husband eats it daily. I do find it easier to blend with maple syrup which makes it creamy. I use mostly frozen fruit but like to freeze fresh fruit as well. Pineapple seems to be the hardest to chop. Have to really hang onto that Cuisinart lid. I also like to add some lemon or lime zest to the fruit mix. Raspberry/lime and blueberry/lemon are two of my favorites. Very refreshing, healthy and satisfying. Thank you for such an awesome recipe!
