48 Reviews of Spinach Garlic Soup

From: LinnieLeigh

POST COMMENT: I went back and rated this anyways. It deserves to have at least five stars! I have tried the soup and thats all that matters. It warms your belly while awakening your taste buds.... it is a very hard experience to describe. So try it and see if you can explain the greatness of this soup! Not sure if it is fair for me to rate this seeing as I've had this from the GREAT MissPenny's kitchen itself, so here I am just commenting. EVEN THOUGH this deserves WAY more then five stars!!!!... I remember the first time I had this. I came home from school (then 7th grade) and MissPenny said Here! Try this! Of coure me being a 7th grader thought Ewwww Spinach! Ewwww Green Soup!!!! But MMMMMMMMM the smell just MADE me have to try it, and I have LOVED it EVER since. I miss it now With college and all. But there is always the hope of SPINACH GARLIC SOUP in the future TRY IT if nothing else...dont shy from the ingreidents or the funky green color! I took it to school for lunch and all my friends turned up their noses... UNTIL they tried it!!!!! WONDERFUL UNIQUE SOUP!!!!!

This recipe yields a delicately flavoured aromatic pot of bliss! It tastes identical to the spinach bisque served in a local restaurant where I live (a personal favorite soup). The restaurant places shrimp on the bottom of the bowl in which the soup is served, adding texture and introducing a subtle flavor. My husband has never tasted the soup from the restaurant and is horrified of green food (I swear he's going to get scurvy one day!). He reluctantly tried the soup from this recipe and immediately dubbed it "the soup with the name that sounds gross but tastes AWESOME!". A+ for cost! A++ for flavour! ps - I thought I had fresh garlic but it was quite dried out so I used 1/8 of a teaspoon of dehydrated garlic (powder)per garlic clove. I also used skim milk and half and half instead of heavy cream and it still tasted wonderful! Thank-you so much for the recipe - I'm going to e-mail it to my best friend in Yellowknife, NWT who could benefit with a good soup through these cold months.

This is really delicious soup. I added some shredded swiss cheese to give it a little more substance and it was wonderful. Great recipe Miss Penny!

Wow! I could not beleive how wonderful this soup tasted. I love the strong garlic taste with spinach. This was the first soup I've ever made from scratch and it was so easy. I put the soup in the freezer to make it cool quicker so that by the time I completed the flour mixture the soup was cool. The soup has already become one of my favorites. It is just so good, thank you for sharing it.

MissPenny Normally I don't care for pureed soups, but could'nt resist this one! It was fabulous! The flavor of the garlic, spinach and milk was to die for. This will become a favorite in my house!

This is a wonderful soup! I made it for work (for a coffeeshop) and needed to make more than the recipe, so did 4 x the recipe and added some pasta to help stretch it and beef it up for the lunch crowd. When I was packaging it up I couldn't stop tasting it!! I had a few cups spare and gave it to my kids who are 4 and 6 and are totally picky eaters - and they wolfed it down! I have to now make another batch for me! Thank you so much! Oh, and it was so simple to prepare too!

This was a terrific soup. It has been on my list for ages and, finally, I got around to making it. It was good! My BF Dugan drank it right out of the soup bowl. The beast didn't even bother using the spoon provided. I think I understand why we are not often invited to dinner parties. I added some bacon bits on top which alway makes Doogie carniverous/rabid.

Delicious! I didn't have cream, so used 1/2 skim milk and 1/2 whole. I'll be making this a lot. With the chopping and pureeing, prep time was considerably more than 5 minutes though. Great recipe!

A very delicious soup. I made about half the recipe. My only change was to use a stick blender to puree. This meant that I did not have to let the soup cool significantly, and it thus required less heating after the milk/cream is added. No need to bother with and then wash the blender jar, and the stick blender cleans up in a flash. It's an excellent and inexpensive investment. Topped the soup with garlic croutons and some additional shredded carrot for color.
