This makes alot of sauce! You didnt write when to add the wine, so, I drank one glass and added one.
Toward the end I figured both should have been added to the sauce as it was pretty thick so I did. I love the color it gives the sauce. Sort of the same color as my cheeks after two glasses. Great stuff!

At first, I wasn't going to give this one 5 stars, but then I tasted the sauce the next day — excellent! Letting the sauce sit in the frig makes a huge difference. I have used the sauce in Easy Way Lasagna #18888 with great results and will try it on my homemade pizza and in Pepperoni Casserole #110024. Thanks for the recipe Kittencal. P.S. I thought my family might have a fist fight over the last meatball!

Truly the best pasta sauce I have ever made! For years I have made my mom's spaghetti sauce and it has served us well. However, I was having company for dinner recently and in the group there was one vegetarian I wanted to feed as well as everyone else. I made a double batch of this recipe, took some out for my vegetarian friend when it had simmered appropriately and then dropped in a full recipe of #69173 (Kittencals own "Italian melt in your mouth meatballs) and let it finish pretty much exactly as the recipe suggests. Served the next night with homemade spaghetti noodles and sourdough bread slathered with fresh garlic butter and had people rolling out my door at the end of the evening! I have since made another double batch of the sauce with meatballs and frozen in meal size containers for busy nights. Absolutely fantastic recipe for a fragrant, flavorful, chunky and rich textured pasta sauce. oh and the meatballs were truly "melt in your mouth"! Thanks again kittencal for another winner!!

Wow, this was fabulous! Very intense tomato flavor. I used it for Kittencal's manicotti and it was FANTASTIC! The next night we had some leftover, so I baked the Parmesan meatballs. WONDERFUL! Highly recommend!

Delish!! I followed the recipe exactly and DH says I'm never to buy pasta sauce from the store again. My son found it a little too spicy toward the end of the meal so I may cut down the red peppers next time. I think I'll also try adding some mushrooms next time to give it another layer of flavor. Definitely let it rest in the refrigerator...it just gets better and better. Thanks Kittencal!!

Another great recipe Kittencal! I scored a touchdown at my superbowl party with this recipe along with your parmesan meatballs. I made the sauce the day before and the day of the party heated it up in the crockpot and it was ready to go. So many compliments!!! At the end of the party my hubby was bummed that it was all gone but got a big grin on his face when he found some meatballs that I had saved in the freezer for later. This was so easy and it is great to be able to freeze it so we'll always have it on hand. I don't think we'll every buy jarred sauce again. Thanks so much!

Very good sauce. I added an extra Tablespoon of fresh garlic (personal choice), 1/2 c grated parmesan, and 1 extra Tablespoon of sugar. Perfect sauce. Thank you for sharing.

Wow Kittencal, Thank you for posting this recipe. This is a wonderful sauce. I went all the way with the cup of wine and had a glass for myself. I didn't have the pork hock so I left it out but it was still excellent. I used a chipotle chile instead of the dried chiles and I cut up four cans of Italian stewed tomatoes instead of the crushed and diced tomatoes. I didn't have four hours to cook this down so I added an extra can of tomato paste. It was "really good" my dad said. This was so easy to make and so were the terrific meat balls, Kittencal's Italian Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meatballs I added in with it.
