This is very good. The recipe I use calls for canned pinto beans that have been drained - which is how I always make it. I'm sure the refried beans are good but if you want to control the seasonings go with the canned pinto beans.

This was yummy! Have made 3 batches in a week and it is all gone! Tastes just as good as Frito-Lay bean dip, but is much better on the budget!

I have made this at least a dozen times over the years. I usually just eyeball the spices and it comes out fine. Today I doubled the recipe and found that I had no cayenne left. I put a coupld of good squirts of Sriracha sauce and it only added to the flavor I thought. I pickle my own jalepeno peppers and my brine is on the salty side so I add less salt, but more peppers. Today I usesd a name brand of fat free refried beans and I can't tell the difference from the regualar ones. I have also used cheap store brands and it still tastes great.

I have not rated this yet and I've been making it for almost a year now. So good!! I have used my own jalapenos at times and found that it's better without the sugar. It really depends upon how you peppers are pickled. (heh) Thank you for sharing a great recipe. Also it makes a lot! Such a grate money saver!!

This is AMAZING! I love Frito Lay bean dip but was always too cheap to buy it. Thanks so much for this outstanding recipe that tastes just like the real thing for a fraction of the price. I make it for every family function and it always gets gobbled up.

Much tastier than the Frito Lay brand dip if you ask me. I added extra jalapeno peppers and cayenne to spice it up a bit. I will definitly make this again!

We thought this was great! The first time I made this was for my son's grad party (wow...it was gone quick) and the second time was just for the family. Definitely will be making this over and over! Thanks!!

This bean dip is the real deal folks! I made a double batch for Super Bowl Sunday and it was a huge hit and everyone went home with the recipe I printed from Zaar, thank you TWeddi for this awesome contribution to Zaar. I made it exactly as written using a 30 oz can of nonfat traditional syle refried beans. I didn't bother bringing out the blender or food processor, I just whipped out my handy hand-held electric mixer and let her rip for probably 5 minutes (scraped down the bowl every minute or so). It is much like the expensive canned stuff with a couple of big exceptions, it's has a much creamier texture, not so thick; the flavor, I feel, is much better too, so did everyone else who had it (and they had a lot). I typically choose quick, easy to make recipes and this is right up there with the best of them. This dip will be a guest at any get-together we have. By the way, most people ate this dip instead of my guacamole; I have a lot of guacamole left over. What does that tell ya, and my guacamole is good too.

Pretty good and very close to the canned stuff (Frito Lay). Love that it has a lot less fat, and it went together quickly. I mixed by hand instead of in a food processor. Thanks!
