43 Reviews of Play Dough

From: _Ally_

On Feb 24, 2004

Thank you! This is a great, fast simple, cheap way to make play dough. Ten minutes or less and this stuff is finished (but then you have to let it cool for quite a bit). I mixed the food colouring with the 1 cup water before adding it b/c I thought it might help the colour spread easier.

This was the exact recipe we always used when I taught preshool/daycare for several years. Great stuff! My daughters are always begging to make up another batch. Add a few drops of vanilla or peppermint extract to give the wee ones another sense to work with. :o)

Fantastic recipe! I am a pre-k teacher and make this play dough at least once per week. My kids love to play with it warm and I change it up a bit by using scented extracts, glitter, oatmeal or sand to give an extra sensory experience. :0)

I've made this recipe for my kids for years. They love it - even when it's warm. If you keep it sealed in between uses(I use empty sour cream containers) it'll last a lot longer than the store bought stuff and it has a much nicer consistency and feel.

This was super easy to make... WONDERFUL texture! I used neon food coloring for vibrant pink color- and I added a package of Kool-Aide Ice (clear colored) drink mix which added a wonderful aroma as well! ** update*** be sure to blend it all together before adding heat. If you add the heat before you completely blend the flour you get lots of white lumps!

Awesome stuff! I wasn't sure how long to cook it or how thick to let it get in the pan though. Must be an idiot proof recipe, because it turned out great--it's cooling a little in the fridge right now. The kids are excited to get started playing with it!
