Great Chili! The blend of favors were wonderful. It was made minus the jalapeno - it somehow didn't make it in the shopping bag, and I only used a few of the pepper flakes because I was worried about the heat for the kids. I used 2- 14oz cans of tomatoes and added 4 cans of kidney beans - I have to have the beans! I love sour cream on my chili and left it off because I wanted to enjoy the full taste of the chili. Excellent recipe.

This is now my favorite chili too. I served this for Super Bowl Sunday and everyone LOVED it. Even my husband who believes there's always room for improvement and never awards top scores gave this five stars. He and my Father-In-Law both said this was the best chili they've ever had. I too skipped the water and instead used an entire container of Guiness stout. This will definately go into my cookbook. Thank you so much for sharing.

This was terrific! Just the right amount of heat for me (a little too much for the kids, though). After cooking the groundbeef, onion, pepper and garlic, I put all the ingredients in the crockpot and cooked on low overnight. Again, it was fabulous. Thanks, Kim!

Well, I have this strange affliction that does not allow me to follow a recipe exactly, so I made a few changes. Bottom line...this was AWESOME! I doubled the veggies, "eye-balled" my measurements, left out the red pep flakes for the kids, used 2 cans stewed tomatoes, used 1/2 of a LARGE stout beer and 2 large cans of chili beans. We all loved it including my 2 year old and 7 year old!

OMG Kim! This is the best! After one taste, my dbf said "keep this recipe, this is the best chili you ever made"!!! That says it all!! Made half a recipe and did add kidney beans. Also used a 28 ounce can of tomatoes. Did not add honey as we like our chili hot and not sweet! Thanks Kim - I understand all the glowing reviews you have gotten for this recipe - Mmmmmm good!!!

Great easy recipe, the only changes I made were to increase the beer to a whole bottle and lessen the water. Can't find anyone who doesn't like this one!

This was absolutely wonderful. While cooking the smell filled my house and we almost couldn't wait until it had simmered the full time. The flavors were absolutely wonderful and I followed the direction to the T except I upped the hot stuff and left out the beans. Great recipe.

I made this for dinner last night and we really enjoyed it. The flavor was wonderful ~ not too hot, not too sweet, just perfect. It does take some time to throw together but it is well worth it. I made as posted and will definitely be making it again. I served it with my Sweet Cornbread and extra cheddar cheese for the top. Thanks for posting!

This was my first time making chili and it was a hit. My husband and I agreed this will be our base recipe from now on, but we will just make a few adjustments. We will probably leave out the celery as I am not sure what it really added. I didn't have jalepenos, but next time I will make sure I do, because we like our chili hot! I halved the recipe because it is just the two of us, and it worked out just fine. Thanks for this keeper!

I have made this twice now using both 99/1 ground turkey breast and 96/4 lean ground beef and both have been fabulous. Whether right off the stove or re-heated the next day, this is GOOD EAT'IN! Being from Texas, both my husband and I are pretty critical when it comes to chili recipes. Here are some changes/substitutions that I did make: doubled the garlic, substituted canola for vegetable, used half of a large jalapeno, used onion powder rather than salt, and substituted agave nectar for honey. For the beer, I used 1/2 bottle of Shiner Bock Bohemian Black Lager....very tasty chili and will be using it many times in the future. Thanks for sharing!
